Oh yeah.. Just returned from a crazy, supalong mindf**ing round n Dragon Valley (64map/16player), where stealing went both ways.. Man, would've loved it, if it wasn't for those three guys camping on the carrier.. Although, finally killing them really felt wunderschön Tough round, ended up w. ~86 points.. Definitely f-ed up my KDR, but it was for a good cause, i was chopper-piloting for my buddy, who got ~160 something + a shiny silver star..

I need around tree fiddy.
I was playing on an [SOF] server this weekend. Most of the players on both teams were [SOF] clan members. So we start a new round on Kubra Dam and I spawn at the USMC Airport. I go for the bomber plane and i see two [SOF] guys just chilling there not taking the plane. So I say ok... I'll take it. I jump in and one of the guys jumps in my gunner seat, but as soon as I take off the Gunner bails. Next thing i know i'm kicked for "Taking the Teams vehicles"
WTF!? That boiled my blood. I proceed logging in and TKing the bastards until i got banned

Would it be stealing if you capped a base as a PLA but the APC available was an LAV-25?! HELL NO! So I say it is not stealing if you grab a LAV-25 from their base. Heck you made it all the way over there without dying you deserve the fruits of your labor. "Well done lad!" is my hail to you! Stealing the enemy's assets is a noble and difficult task which deserves the utmost respect.

Hell if they're stupid enough not to be able to defend their own vehicles they deserve to get it stolen.
Buncha fucking pussies if you ask me.....rules are evil.
Create any organization, put some people in charge, and they'll immediately crawl all over themselves trying to see who can make the most rules.
Example: I used to sail beach cats with a few of my friends. The group grew over a few years and after there got to be about 20 of us, some brainchild decides we MUST have an organization with leaders and rules and the whole 9 fucking yards. Used to be that we all just showed up at the lake with our camping gear and boats and drank gallons of beer and sailed. Perfect, it doesn't get much better than that.
But that wasn't good enough. Now you have to pay Sailing Association dues to even hang out. You have to RSVP. You can NOT bring your dog. No music after 10. You MAY be able to bring a friend (if he or she is liked by the COMMITTEE) but you have to ask PERMISSION. It's a public fucking campground for christ's sake! You're supposed to attend meetings so you can help make even more rules. We USED to all be friends and have some fun a couple times a month. Now everybody pretty much hates each other and they spend all their time bitching about each other behind each others backs. All because of some sick and twisted human need for any group to create more rules. I told them from the beginning that it would end like this but nobody wanted to listen. Rules are evil.
I moved to another state. There ARE no rules where I sail. Life is good.

My favorite move that I've managed to pull off.
Skydived in towards the J-10 in wake from a Blackhawk. Landed on the back of the J-10. Sniped the pilot out of the J-10. Jacked it with artillery crashing around me.
I promptly crashed the damn thing into a tree because my piloting skills are that of a small retarded gerbil with both of its front appendages tied to a used Hungarian hooker.

Ok, I'm [TNT]Ghostrider aka John.
I'm pretty proud of my comrades [TNT]Shaper and [TNT]Shadowblade; they are both very fair and good players. So I have some things to say about this issue:
1. The rules on our server are very clear and are addressed in the server-message every 3 minutes:
-> 3. BR, BB or TK=kick or ban!!!
So I guess Your problem here grounds on a lack of understanding: BR means BaseRaping and does mean, that it's forbidden to enter an enemies uncappable base for stealing vehicles and/or killing him. Since when is BaseRaping Fairplay?!? We really think that this is an important rule to ensure fair gameplay. This rule is even more important on a 24Player-Server like ours, if 32P or 64P-maps are played on: No team I've seen would be able to "hold the line" completely waterproof to ensure baseraping from happening.
2. If You have a problem with the balance of Karkand, You should maybe write EA a letter!?!
But let me ask You this: If Karkand is so unfair, why is it the most played map of the community?
It is true that some maps offer different pros and cons for each team, but isn't that part of the game; to beat the odds?
3. If You're not able to stop a spearhead (formation of 2 armored vehicles or more), why don't You make an AT-squad (3P or more) and try to get them fried?
4. Let me make this very clear: You are still welcome on our server as long as You play by the ROE's. But anyone, who doesn't is NOT and should stay away! If You feel Yourself mistreated, please feel free to contact
me via PM, so We can sort things out, k?
Thanks for Your time reading this,
Greetings, John

Thank you for writing a comprehensive answer, John! I appreciate it indeed!
I agree with the rules you enforce, however, the stealing of vehicles is IMHO considered tactics, not baseraping. BR, IMHO, is constantly artying the uncap, or mauling people as they spawn at the uncap. Not stealing. I have nothing against Karkand (although Dalian is my most played map), nor its balance issues. The key is adaptation.
Allow me to clarify with an example
MEC has in 32 player 1 tank, which is located at the Gatehouse outpost. Now, that starts off being a MEC tank, right? Whether that flag is capped or not, if a USMC soldier wanders off to that location with the purpose of taking that flag or the Train Accident flag, I'd say he has every right to take that T90, right? So now there are 2 tanks and 1 APC at the disposal of the USMC.
So why not let MEC-troops make attempts to get behind the lines and steal stuff. If kills are being made in the process in terms of defense, then so be it. If the GTA-APC-MEC decides to stay and kill at the uncap, then there would be grounds for a kick/temp-ban.

Whoa Whoa OLDDDDDDDDd
Old but relevant. It's taken [TNT]Ghostrider 3 months to construct this reply so while it is necroposting I think it was an unresolved issue.
IMHO, if the enemy commander is incompetent enough to let the MEC get to the USMC armour on karkand then the armour is fair game. Stealing doesn't constitute baserape unless the armour then just sits there and spawn rapes.

Well, surely this is an issue to be spoken of:
- There are many maps with the one big problem; just one side has an cappable CP where all the important stuff spawns, we know that.
- We discussed that issue inside our clan and we made finally a decision towards the clarity of the ROE's on our server: We decided to protect uncappable CP's, even though sometimes certain Teams get a disadvantage from it.
-It seems easier to make people understand that rule, cause a "NoGo"-Sign looks a lot like don't go there... Right?
Finally I want to say, that I hope all "bad blood" between You and my mates has been wiped up.
G, John

Ghostrider: Damn I would give a left testicle to have an admin of your maturity level around.
Instead of turning this into a debate whether its 'right' or 'wrong' in which there are no clear answers to, i sure hope his reply clears every thing up

It is nice to hear from a mature admin who has genuinely thought about the server rules imposed rather than just making rules up to give their clan an advantage.
But if DiCE had coded uncappables as a red dot instead of a big Ghostbusters sign I wonder how people's interpretaion of it would have changed.
Like you say, the big "NoGo" sign does imply just that, but this is purely an interpretation.

I agree with bearz. Ghostrider seems to be a fair and reasonable admin, and this probably also is reflected on his actions on the battlefield.
Rules are always up for debate, especially when the matter is stealing enemy vehicles/assets.
There has never been bad blood, just a level of annoyment regarding the matter. Nevertheless, I will have the two persons mentioned in the posts above in "Ubers Hatelist" at our clan website. The list is made just for kicks, and is no "OMG I have a personal vendetta and serious issues with myself"-thing. Being on the list could actually be regarded as an honour, because this means they have been noted from the over 1 million players on the field/at the forums.
No grudge, no vendetta, no bad blood, no harm, no foul.
I can still disagree over that one specific rule though, can't I?
(And if I'm on your server on the MEC-side, I might just go for the US-uncap.. I'm not saying I'd absolutely have to, but if there are unused vehicles there, you never know.. )

I'm glad things are straight between us,
have a nice day, John
No stealing vehicles!
That's the dumbest rule I have ever heard.
And to justify it by using uncappables as an excuse is very week IMO. If you're serious about protecting your vehicles, don't put the restrictions on the OTHER team, put them on YOUR team. Make YOUR team protect the vehicles if you think the map is unbalanced. If YOUR team member doesn't listen to you then kick YOUR team member, not the opposition for taking advantage of YOUR week defences.
C'mon...using the same logic in soccer, hockey or whatever sport, hypothetically speaking of course... it would be the equivalent of saying a team lets the goalie rush into the offensive play and leaves their goal/net empty and tell the other team you're not allowed to score, and if you do then you need to go home and we win. No.....it doesn't work that way...if you leave yourself defensless then theirs a concequence.
Change your server rules! You've made them to favour you not the game!
People seem to forget the defensive element...everyone only thinks about the offence. We have all heard the commander say "defend this position", it's there for a reason.

Redback, this has been pretty civilised, don't join in and start calling people dumb.
It's good to see that Ghostrider's a sensible, reasonable admin, and if stealing vehicles is against their rules, he has every right to enforce it.
The one thing I'd suggest is that you make it very clear in the rules that come up on screen that the uncaps are completely out-of-bounds. Many people would argue that vehicle-stealing is not base-rape.
The usual definition of base-rape involves repeated artillery strikes, airstrikes, and camping outside the base with vehicles or on foot. Essentially, if it's not a sustained attack on people who have trouble defending themselves (because they're just spawning), most people won't consider it base-rape.
If you guys want to enforce the uncap as a total exclusion zone, well, it's your server, that's fine. But let people know in advance.
By the way, do you allow Spec-Ops in to blow up assets like the UAV?
+1 to Ghostrider and DonFck for managing to have a civilised discussion on the internet. Well done guys...

I said the rule was dumb, I didn't say the people who made them are dumb so please don't put words in my mouth. Furthermore, my comments are civilised, and making a firm objection should be welcome. The point I made is valid and they should really consider how they administer their rules. If they are serious about keeping the vehicles for the designated team then someone should defend them, you don't enforce rules that are clearly made to have the combat a one-sided affair.MrE`158 wrote:

Further to what you were saying, what can be done at an uncap? Can you C4/mine vehicles? Base rapping is not welcome in most servers and that simply put, is sitting at an uncap, in a vehicle killing spawners. The admins of the servers have bastardized the rule to suite they're offensive flavour without serious consideration about combat in its entirety; offense and defense.
If I new this was a rule of a server that I joined I would quietly move on and chose a different server as it wouldn't appeal to me.
