Myth 1 - Don't ever use the plane as a transport:  Wrong.  On large maps (Zatar, FuShe Pass) where most flags start off as neutral, one of the best strategies at the beginning of a map is to use the plane and bail out at those flags closest to your enemy's main base.  Once you cap that flag, armor spawns so you can defend it and the plane will respawn shortly.  You've lost maybe 30 seconds of air power in exchange for strategic position that will allow your team to cap most of the neutral flags.

Myth 2 - Commanders should never fight: Wrong. If you are a commander then god damnit protect your assets.  Commander's job is to make the team win (hence 2x points for win) so don't listen to those "Commanders Shouldn't Fight" people.  Do what is necessary for your team to win.  If that means scanning and spotting then do it, but don't sit there going "Enemy Boat Spotted" while a chopper flies into your base, takes you flag and destroys all your assets...that's just plain stupid...and I see it all the time.  Also, if you're in a game with 24 players or less then you should do some fighting because with that small a number you're more valuable with a gun then spotting...use UAV, drop arty/supplies and issue orders but that only takes about 10 seconds.  spend the other 50 seconds till those recharge fighting or defending.

Myth 3 - Snipers make a difference: I don't want to be a sniper basher because the sniper is useful in small amounts...One or two (at most three if on 64).  To hit a target at long range that target generally needs to be standing still.  Good players know not to stand still or prone for very long or to run in a straight line.  They bob and weave and dive and jump and take strafe from side to side.  And they'll go prone only at the last minute when firing, just to jump up again when they're done.  So who stands still?  Usually snipers...   Since a sniper ain't too good at close quarter combat, and they don't hit moving targets well the snipers are a class that are really there to neutralize the other team's snipers.  Yes, I've seen the sniper vids that people keep posting but keep in mind those spectacular shots are a highlight reel of the best players in the world!  I'm not bashing the sniper class...i'm just trying to put it into perspective.  Snipers have a role to play but "sniper superiority" will not help you win any games.

Myth 4 - BF2 is just a game.  Nope...Super Mario Brothers is a game.  BF2 is an online team game.  This implies that there are other human beings out there and you are playing on teams.  Just cause you paid $50 bucks for the game doesn't give you the right to do whatever you do.  The same way that paying $50 for a pair of sneakers doesn't give you the right to do what ever you want in a basketball game.  Those who claim that they'll do any damn thing they want are actually cowards who hide behind the anonymity that the internet provides them.  Those same people wouldn't have the guts to do whatever they wanted to in a pick up game cause they know what would happen.  Don't fuck around, don't be an idiot and be respectful just because nobody knows who you really are or where to find you if you piss em off.

Myth 5 - Drop Supplies to those who request them: NOOOO!  Always use supply drop on armor or to repair assets.  On some maps like Sharqi, Mashtur and Karkand, supply drops should always be used on armor because they decide who wins the game.  Most of the time as commander I get supply requests from snipers.   Sorry, but that tank which is capping a flag and killing 7 bad guys in the process is more important than that sniper up on a hill who has used up all his ammo shooting at choppers.

Myth 6 - The pistols snipe quite well: No they don't.  They snipe well compared to a shotgun but come on!  Let's be serious.  I always laugh when I hear people extolling the virtues of being able to take out targets at distance with the pistol.  Give me an M16 and you take a pistol and let's see who wins the long distance shoot out.

Myth 7 - Using Vehicles is Cheap: Nope.  Here's how the game breaks down  EDIT: Planes > Attack Chopper > Armor > Transports > Infantry. END EDIT  Sorry to disappoint all you footsoldiers out there but you are at a pretty big disadvantage.  You're slow, you're weak, you have little fire power and you're only redeeming quality is that you are small and agile.  This is not counter strike.  Ignore the "they got no skills, they're just a vehicle whore" comments.  Learn to use the vehicles.  Otherwise find another game...you'll be much happier.  EDIT: before i get anymore negative responses to this one, my point is not that infantry is useless...far from it.  Just that vehicles are powerful part of the game and they should not be eschewed because of the "vehicle whores have no skill" stigma. END EDIT

Myth 8 - Unlocks are better than original weapons: Unlocks are different than the original weapons.  For the most part the unlocks will only give you different options over the stock weapon.  They all have tradeoffs though.

Myth 9 - All Maps are balanced: Sorry EA...didn't do a good job here.  On Karkand MEC is seriously disadvantaged as is USMC on Wake.

Myth 10 - Assault Class is useless: If you are actually skilled at using the GL you wouldn't think that.  Smoke/Flash bangs are underused/underrated.

Myth 11 - Take out assets at uncapable base: No, this is a waste of time.  If the assets are in an uncapable base then you'll trek a long way to blow something up that the other team's commander will repair in 30 seconds.  So silly when MEC goes to blow up USMC assets on Karkand.  They are always repaired right away and you'll die a number of times before you actually make it through to destroy em.



There's other but i can't remember them now...I'll add more as I think of em.  Also, feel free to post your myths and i'll add em if they're good.

Myth 12: Stingers are teh uber. Just don't shoot them at trees, the sky, anywhere within a mile of friendlies, airplanes, helicopters, flares, other vehicles, out of bounds, sandbags, and big oil tanks.

Myth1 - on zatar not true if enemy has a good jet pilot.  not only will u have lost your jet (being camped by the enemy jet) and those bombing runs from a jet can be devestating. altho if its an average pub... yea i always take the jet just so i can get the heli ;p

Myth2 - if its not very populated i dont mind em fighting.. but on a 64 man server.. they are too busy to be fighting... if u dont think its important, then just not have a commander and see what happens,  a half-a$$ commander = no commander for half the game.

Myth3 - i agree, while claymores are insanely annoying, ive only met a few snipers worth their weight

Myth5 - i agree  unless the tanker is a complete tool... in which they wouldnt be killing anyone anyway

Myth6 - agree... id much rather reload a gun than try to pistol em from a distance

Myth7 - i agree but wtf?  since when is armor > a heli lol.. i guess if u have some crappy heli pilots but in my world a heli >>>> any armor   

Myth8 - strongly disagree.  very strongly.   give me a g36e(or any upgrade for that matter) and i will kill twice as many infantry, i personally resist using upgrades (although sometimes i pick one off of someone i kill -.-) because they give a false sence of how good you are, plus i play in matches and we cant use upgrades so i dont want to gimp myself.

Myth9 - i agree for diff sides of map... but if u switch sides 1 round each.. seems pretty fair to me

Here I disagree with YOU. You a G36E and me an AK-47 ? Stock weapons are simply the best in most cases [except DAO and sometimes M95 if needed]

Myth 3 - Somewhat disagree. How can you discard snipers that way? Yes, they doesn't excel at closecombat, so what? No class can defend a flag like a sniper. Both claymore, and picking them of from an unseen location. No class, vehicle or player tips the scale by themselves if they aren't good at the game! Why clame only the snipers are true to this fact?

Myth 7 - Disagree
Vehicles are good, but I seriously hope the "Sorry to disappoint all you footsoldiers out there but you are at a pretty big disadvantage" is a manifestation of english not being your main language. Or else you clame 20 tanks vs 20 tanks + 20 infantry would turn out with the 20 tanks only as the victores.
It is an advantage to know how to use the vehicles, but footsoldiers are actually better at capping bases. (Vehicles are better however at spawncamping, if that's what you mean).

Else you have some good points, but normally don't listen to much to armor (or any vehicle) whores (looking at your stats)... eerrr I mean people who are good at using vehicles ;-)

+ one from me, about the commander: yes he may fight, but NOT sit in armor like the whole round and do nothing or even fight with the tank in the battlefield itself, that is something a commander shouldn't do. As for defending the flag across the river in Karkand, as MEC, and therefor as well defending the assets, nothing wrong with that ofcourse. He must just not fight in the heat of the battle, that way it is impossible to be of a good commanding help to your team.

was going to give you a -1 for this but didnt .i personally do think that any cunt can get in a drive armour and kill, it does take a footsoldier though to win the game iam sorry to piss you off but you have just typed the 2nd biggest load of bollocks i have found on this site 2day .

All the others are very true but i really disagree with that one .As for foot soldiers being weak nope not if you like at Anit-Tank and special op those 2 classes can own and hold back any armour on karkand .Ive been on many servers where the yank team hadnt been able to get one flag and just base raped for fun .Its called foot soldiers working as a team and owning hard.

Myth 2 Commanders don't fight.

Yep your right commander don't fight, they should just defend.

9 out of 10 times on Wake and Karkand, you will be the only one defend the most important flags.

EG The airfield on Wake and the Gatehouse on Karkand, if your side loses these, you have normally lost the game.

I recomend Engineer on Karkand, to use mines to block the ways in and Sniper on Wake to us claymores on airfield flag.

Your answer to Myth 11 is wrong.  If you use all of your c4 on 1 target, it takes around 30 seconds for it to even begin to start repairing.  That means, if a supply drop comes down RIGHT AFTER you blow it up, it'll still have to wait 30 seconds to start repairing.  That could DEFINITLEY help your team.

Myth 2 is so true... I was commander on Warlord and was insurgents and our back flags the 2 building flags kept coming under attack. The other team was coming up the side grappling the walls and trying to grapple the building. So I jumped into the APC that sits there, that nobody was using and started to defend. The rest of my team was in the battle near the SAS main base. With in a minute I got booted from the server for fighti ng while commanding. And we had a 50 ticket lead aswell..I was so pissed with the admin and how they ran the server like that. The admin never even warned or asked me why I was breaking the server rules.....I had to to save our rear flags !!!! GRRRR

Myth 3- Strongly disagree, especially in the case of Wake island. I was playing and most of our team (PLA) played sniper every single round, while the others got in jets/ choppers to cover the air. 12 snipers were with me on the ends of the island, NOT ONE person could make it to the boats to land on shore. 12 snipers honed in on such a poistion as the Artillery Island means anyone who should be stupid enough to spawn there will be dead within seconds, and even if I did manage to miss or only land a body shot, you've still got another 11+ bulletts heading in your general direction!

P.S. on my best round I got 34 kills and 12 kill damage assists, with just my L96A1.

But you still get a +1 from me

Myth 1 - Although this can put your team at a serious dissadvantage if you lawn dart a Jet while the Enenmy is bombing away I agree with this for the most part...


Myth 2 - Agree...  Commanders can be good defense...  Play Engy and repair your assets...  Play sniper and Claymore a flag.... 

Myth 3 - Dont agree....   Good snipers can take out mobile infantry,  Chopper Pilots, Defend FLags with Claymores, and Spot enemy movement.  ALthough Excessive amounts can be annoying.   

Myth 4 - BF2 is just a game.  Yes it is.....  If you dont like how someone is acting..  Theres nothing you can do.  FInd a new server.  Play with people you know....

Myth 5 - Drop Supplies to those who request them:
Tanks should be rolling with other armor and both should be Engy's.  THis is WAY more effective at keeping them alive then dropping a supply crate.  You need to weigh your options on supply crates.  Dropping on down to a tank thats being swarmed by 7 enemy solders is just going to result in wathing your tank get AT rocketed and then 4-5 happy eneny solders feasting on your supplies.....  As for snipers...  If I'm commanding and have a sniper thats being productive, I will certainly drop him a box....

Myth 10 -Agree.. I like assualt..  But prefer the G3.. no noobtube....

Myth 11 - Take out assets at uncapable base: You contradict yourself here somewhat....  If the commander has to drop a supply crate to repair his arty then thats one less crate that can help his precious tank commando....   ANd in Karkand, theu US Arty and UAV/Scanner are Very far apart.   Taking out a UAV trailer can result in the enemy being blind for a minimum of a minute...   Probobly more....  And arty...  Well..   Busted arty cant kill the 8 guys taking the Train wreck...... 

There's other but i can't remember them now...I'll add more as I think of em.  Also, feel free to post your myths and i'll add em if they're good
