I had installed the full patch from v.1.0 to v.1.22 using the big fat 372 MB size .exe. I installed SF, and when I tried to join a server it said I had modified content. So I thought, okay, maybe the patch changed some SF files so I'll just re-patch. First time I just opened it up, nothnig happened, then it disappeared. I noticed I had low disk space on C:\ (BF2 is on D) .... 4 megs.

So after removing some old stuff and cleaning it up I had 700 megs free on C:. Good enough for now, I thought. So I run the patch again, and while it runs (no window nothing yet) as a process I notice my C: space dropping... really really fast. So I end the patch process, and the space drop stops.

Anyone ever see this before? What the hell is happening?

I re-installed the whole BF2 content once. First the BF2 vanilla, then the patch BF2:SF requires (1.12 or sth), then SF itself and the patch 1.21, then BF2:EF and after that the newest patch.
As you see, only the first patch I installed (before SF) was a "full patch", the others were encremental.
I recommend you to do the same, because SF patches your game "back" to 1.12 or sth. Maybe that's why you can't install the full patch again after installing SF.
But I have no idea where the space drop comes from.

that's the way things are processed
because the patch is compressed file, it actually unzip the things and runs it without showing

so yea.. you need like gig and half space of c for patch i think

^yeah i thought that might be the problem, but before the message would come up saynig that you need so much space on C:\, etc, but it didnt come up. And i wasn't going to risk seeing if it worked, because I have no clue where it dumps the files in case it's not enogh.

And no, no one modified it because I used the exact same one to patch BF2 in the first place before I decided to dig up SF.

Look at my post above, I think it's really considered with the re-patch that will be done by installing SF.
