I was reading some posts about dropping humvees and vodniks on people as a weapon.  But if a really anoyying clan (like myg0t) joined a server with 8 or so members they could drop humvees all over the carrier with the help of a dumbass commander.

I have seen that clan be fucking annoying, one time on a wake server a guy from myg0t became commander.  And just to be a bitch he dropped arty on his own guys...  I was on the other team and I wanted a fair fight, so I joined their team and was out to TK him.  Then came up with an idea to scare the shit out of the kid by making my squad and yelling over the VOIP.  He took off his headset from my yelling and TKed me 5 times which equallt auto ban (I think he was somewhere around the age of 13, a bit cruel but I think I served him right).  But with people this stupid and power hungry the humvee drop will turn to child TK tactics and ruining the game...

I hope they do something to prevent this but if not I will quit the game cause one more big fuckup by them and I am out!

it'd be a really good way to prevent enemy jets from taking off.

Oooooh dirty pool!!  Hadn't thought of that.  It would suck too almost be off the ground, then get hit with a huge paper weight like that.

in the other thread i mentioned how i have enough problems avoiding UAVs and supply drops while airborne.  i can only imagine flying along and then having to avoid a vodnik.

but yeah, i know thats what i'd do.  just drop jeeps on the enemy runway as often as i could.

Yea, this idea wasn't thought out.  You could drop vehicles on uncap spawnpoints so the other team can't spawn at a crucial base (like the south MEC base on Sharqi for example), thus denying them helos/planes/etc.  Granted, the other team would have to be pretty incompetent for that to work ... but I've seen it ...

I'm not sure how that would stop people from spawning at uncaps remo.  You should be able to spawn there regardless of the amount of humvees there.  It may hinder the usage of choppers and planes as effectively, but it wouldn't keep the spawns from happening.

If you drop them where players spawn, you can block the points ... and then you can't spawn there ...

The vehicle drop should work the same way as the supplies, only 1 allowed at a time, and remember that a giant C-17 has to drop a vehicle, your gonna need a lot of room, as such I doubt it would be allowed on carriers, or in congested cities, like the ones people point whore on. But imagine seeing a giant C-17 come swooping in Oman, dropping off a shiny M1A2.

You can't block a vehicle spawn point, you just destroy whatever object was there and the newly spawned unit. Also, you get shifted from that locale.

I hope they add a new vehicle, like the MRL(multi-stage rocket launcher) I can see the noobs calling "stat padding" now.

But then again, it has an uber long reload time and hardly any armour, but it can take out a sniper from a carrier parked off shore length away.

Obviously, if you look at it from a logical point of view, a HUMVEE drop from the Commander would help teamwork minded squads to move around the map easier and hence make them more effective as a squad. How many times were you in a mobile squad and your ride was destroyed? You find yourself walking quite a bit towards the next objective. instead now the SL can request a 'ride' from the Commander and your Squad, or at least 4 of them, can make it there quicker.

Obviously if used appropriately the vehicle drop would be a cool asset. But like so many examples above have already shown most people won't bother using it the way it's intended. It will be used as everything but it's intended. Welcome to endless runway and road blockers and sudden rooftop .50 cal installations.

yeah ive been in the situation where some crazy team mate (like my self) drives so fast that all 4 wheels are facing the sky, followed by a massive explosion :p A car dropped on ya head in that situation would be nice

dropping  a vehicle onto someones head could be a possible exploit, but the person who is about to be killed is only going to get killed if they are not paying attention to shadows (if they have good graphics that is). Obviously there will be a shadow similar to that of a supply crate when it is dropped, so you will see a humvy shaddow ontop of you and will no doubt have time to get out of the way.

should be interesting.

I think that to prevent continual spamming of the HUMVEEs there should be a certain number that a commander can drop in a round, not just having a timer between drops, have that and say a limit of 5 or 6 humvees/vodnicks etc that can be dropped.  This would mean that a commander would have to decide where the vehicles are needed most, and good co ordinated squads who are following orders are going to be more likely to be rewarded for doing a good job.

I like vpyromans idea too.

Haha I laughed at this.

Only problem is supply crates, you can't enter one of those.

While I agree that disaster can result from a lot of careless additions to the game, and I commend your skepticism, I think that unless this adds some crazy new glitchiness, the vehicle drop will probably be a good thing.

First of all, this is a very similar threat to attack-supply drops. I have never been killed by one of those and in general don't think they affect that many people. Granted, the larger footprint would raise the rate of hits. Secondly,  commanders would have to be very careful about when attempting this. Imagine a vodnik being dropped on the train accident flag to kill a handful of noobs capturing. Sure maybe the commander could kill one or two of them with a vodnik but they could also be supplying the capturers with a great .50 cal flag defense vehicle.

I bet it would take very good timing in order to actually make a plane crash into one of these vehicles. Otherwise, it would just be a matter of the pilot hopping out and moving the vehicle a few feet. It would be annoying to a pilot but probably would never get any kills (and they wouldnt be credited to the commander if the plane runs into a vehicle that has already landed) so i doubt it would be done that often.

On the other hand, how many times have u had to SLOWLY run between two flags over the course of a few minutes just because somebody took the buggy and parked it on the other side of the map? I would REALLY welcome a falling buggy in one of those moments, it keeps the action going.

I have to agree that dropping vehicles onto the carrier could be very annoying to a team that is being viscously baseraped...

No kidding, there will almost certainly be some limitations that will prevent the inevitable exploits listed here.  There will likely be a limit, or a timer, or perhaps you cannot drop a new vehicle, maybe you will only be able to drop an existing vehicle...we'll see...

Couple thoughts.  One, I usually listen to "SUPPLY DROP" "ARTILLERY" and other things shouted.  So I guess if you're not listening you can wear the Vodnik for a hat.

2.  Runway drop?  Ok.  Missle blows up drop.  Plane re arms.  Takes off.

3. It would more than likely be on the same time frame as supply crate drops.

4. You probably can't drop vehicles non stop, more than are already on the map, and vehicles that don't belong on that map (if there are any).
Granted it'd be nice to get a dune buggy or a humvee when needed.  Beats walking when you're at a vehicle devoid area.  But are any maps really large enough to NEED vehicle drops?

Ofcourse they are, have you ever walked in wake from airfield, all the way to South, just to walk back cause the team took it and lost airfield? at those moments i feel to urge to find something high enough to kill me with fall damage.... but there arent high enough places in wake..... (2-6bars is nothing)

Obviously, I foresee much misuse of this feature, as seems to happen each time EA tweaks something in this game. Neutralize that AA, block that stairwell, stick it on that roof (ugh at 64-player karkand MEC roof), drop it in the uncappable base, unlimited C4 jeeping, drop in front of enemy hangars, drop it on an enemy carrier for massive spawn campage...and the list goes on.

I think they should first correct the bugs (especially the red tag bug) before allowing the commander to drop .50 on rooftop and on runaways.
