Actually I have the following computer:

AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 1.54 Ghz
1.5 Gb RAM
SAPPHIRE RADEON 9600

I need an advice to know if just changing my video card will be enough to run BF2 in high mode.
I would like to buy GeForce 7800 video card, but, will it be enough to run the game in high mode ?

Thanks

Your processor is the same as mine, and that will slow you down QUITE a bit if you put it on all high.

You would have to upgrade your CPU aswell
I'm running with a 3800+ dual core. You won't need that big. A straight 3800+ should do the trick.

Your processor will more than likely bottleneck the video card, limiting it's performance. I'm pretty much in the same boat, being held back from better gaming by my CPU.

The gfx card would only run to the best performance with the balance of work from the CPU, like the poster above said, a bad CPU would lead to a bottlenect with the performance of a good gfx card. For you, you need a better CPU, mobo and gfx card to improve performance. Just splurging on a good gfx card would barely achieve any more performance from that old CPU and mobo you have. If you have the money, go get a decent AMD Athlon 64 3200+ on a Socket 939 Mobo that supports PCI-E x16 Graphics and get a nVidia 6 Series and above gfx card and you will be amazed. If you just upgrade even to a top-of-the-line GeForce 7900GTX would not give you any better performance than you have now. Also 1.5 GHZ DDR RAM is also a problem of performance as that would not even give you good latency for data flow and transfers, causing even more bottleneck in performance.

Final Solution: Get a new system. That is the only good way to go for better performance.

Your Processor is DEFINATLY a limiting factor...

also, you have a Socket A board, and the 7800 series('cept for the 7800GS) are PCI-E...so youd have to upgrade your board and your CPU in order to get a 7800GT/GTX...

No reason to stick with AGP if your proecssor is that weak...Save up and upgrade to PCI-E...

oh, but Id reccomend waiting for the launch of DX10(so you can get a DX10 compatible card) and the AMD AM2 socket design, as the prices will drop for 939-pin boards...

Or if you want the ub3r-kool Intel Conroe... Wait till Fall or Winter and by that time, the new nVidia gfx cards will also be out I think... Or if you don't have that kind of money, get the AMD Socket 939 for cheap prices and you still would be amazed in the difference it can make.
