all my life ive wanted to go skydiving, and having just turned 18 this summer i had to go, so my parents bought me a jump and i couldnt have been happier.  i just got back and it was by far the coolest thing i have ever done in my life.  if anyone has already gone you know what i mean, and if you havent, its a must.  as i was waiting in the plane to take off there were a dozen or so people, mostly experienced, but there were a few first timers like me.  i can honestly say that i wasnt that nervous or scared on they way up, but as soon as they opened the door it hit me, im jumping out of a fucking plane!  to quote a favorite movie of mine, "I give this whole thing a Sphincter Rating of about nine-point-five!"  i watched the others fall out, and as soon as i got to the door and looked down, its just amazing.  so i fall out and for the first couple seconds im like freakin out because the feeling you get is unlike anything youve ever felt before.  i was expecting to get that feeling in my stomach like when you go down the drop of a rollercoaster, but it never happened.  i fell from about 13,000 ft. to 5,000 ft. in what seemed like forever but was actually more like 30 seconds.  the view is absolutely stunning; there were no clouds in the sky and i could see for miles.  after those initial moments you get used to it and just enjoy the ride.  this is definitely something i will be doing again soon.

btw 18 is the age limit in america, i dont know about anywhere else.

Cool story man. BTW, could you tell me how much it costs on average? I'm game for it, but not if it's more than $500 bucks. That would be expensive as hell for me there, but I definitely couldn't go over.

Also, have you tried getting a ride in one of those planes that lets you experience weightlessness for a few seconds? Not sure if those are even open to the public, but it looks cool.

Also, sky diving is plenty safe, but I wouldn't recommend bungy jumping. It is a proven fact that it leads to detatched retnas.

But the real question is, did you get your Airborne Ribbon?

Screwed if you stay in singapore. We're so small we don't have AIRSPACE to skydive.

Singaporean plans turn left immediately after leaving the run way to avoid running into Malaysian airspace. How dumb.

I could just imagine the feeling - it must be exhilarating. Congrats on the jump. Im sure that experience will stay with you the rest of your life. As much as I think I would benefit from doing it, I also think I would have a heart attack in the first 15 seconds. Sorry not for me!

Did you get the video with the jump? If so you should post some still shots if you can.

Happy jumping.

here in texas it starts at 180$.  however the more you do it the cheaper it gets.  my friend is up to 100 and he pays 10$ a jump or like 25$ for a day.  im too broke to start new hobbies

That is really awesome..

so I am curious (and ignorant on the subject), for newbie jumpers like that, do you still have to open your own shoot or is it one of those automatic things?  I know some jumps have automatic opening shoots...

Was it a tandum jump?

I want to do it.  in australia you usually have to start with Tandum jumps  A$300.  I want to do it before my 32nd Birthday which is in 8 months..

Yeah I made my first jump on Sept 9th 1995. It was the same day my dad had died.
It was a ex girlfriends birthday present to her from me. She always wanted to do it So I took her.
When we got back my mom had called and asked if I was sitting down. I said no just tell me whatever it is.
She said your dad had died. I said no wonder I was jumping for joy today. She got pissed.
Keep in mind, my dad was never around haven my mom raise 6 kids by herself. He never spent time or gave us kids anything, well until he died. I had made 12 jumps after that . I was hooked . .

Im on 175 jumps now.
Its one of the best feelings and exciting things you could ever do.
It makes you feel alive.

The sport has changed so much since the 90's even.
Now you can fly on your head, with a pair of wings, some people are even flying with rockets nowadays.

If you want info on dropzones in and  around the USA go check out dropzone.com.

It is the definitive place to find info out on skydiving.

Sadly I am coming out of the sport due to our first child coming along.
I want to be there for our new baby and not on some dz waiting around.

Bear in mind though people you will have to go through intesive training for approx 18 jumps then you get your A licence (airbourne ribbon) and then it becomes cheaper to jump. That is until you buy your new equipment.

Be careful though, if you have a g/f or partner who doesnt skydive, you could find them leaving you for someone else ;-)))

I don't think you have to be any age to be able to be chucked out of a plane here. My dad has threatned to throw me out of a plane on three non-consecutive occasions.

I so wanna go sky diving but i have no one to go with no one will do it with me "what if something happens to the parachute" etc etc.

Is there any place to do it in Canada if so how much? Do you gotta take some course for it or do they just tell ya pull left then right and then chuck you out of the plane like the movies haha.

That would be funny if any girls did just fly up to them and pull there pants down haha cant do anything until i guess you land.

Dont worry about the landing.
The ground will stop you quickly enough.
