1.22 - unmodified content ? Older version ? What´s wrong ?

Hi Folks....

After I installed 1.22 recently, I´m not able to join any server what so ever.
Either I get the " You run an older version than the server" message or its something like " This server only allows unmodified content. Please reset your version blah, blah "

And, yes, I have the boxes"same mod" and "same version" checked on the server search screen.

I never had that happen after a patch...

Somebody has a clue what´s wrong ?

Thanks for any help...

(Guess I have to push the good old uninstall button, huh ?)

I have the same problem too. I am just going to wait another day because it seems that there isn't much talk about the new patch and maybe most of the servers have not switched to it yet.

I don't know why these servers are shown to have the same version and mod though. I just got euroforce and was trying euroforce servers. If you are doing the same it may be a combination of the patch and euroforce.

I've been lurking in the shadows on here; mainly cause I dont usually have problems with this sort of thing. But I've got the same issue here. I ran the 1.22 patch, and also purchased and installed EF at the same time. I searched the forum and found most responses pointing to a full reinstallation. I reinstalled everything; BF2, patches, and EF with the same result. Does anyone have any solutions?

Had the same issue earlier. This is how i fixed mine.

1. Uninstalled Bf2 and Sf.
2. Deleted Battlefield 2 folder in My Documents ( may get deleted with uninstall ).
3. Reinstalled Bf2 and Sf ( no patches applied yet ).
4. Installed full 1.22 patch ( 381 meg ).

Now works better than it did before. In my case i had to do the openal fix ( Audigy 4 ) as well.

you have to patch to 1.22 AFTER installing Euroforces
1.21 -> Euroforces -> 1.22

You can uninstall bf2 and sf without deleting your profile (just in case you didn't know)

I was wondering if any of you, before you reinstalled the games, had changed your BF2.exe file to a different name, then installed 1.22? I happened to change my .Exe file before 1.22, but after 1.21 and Euro Forces. I had the same red server error, so I immediately changed my .exe file back to its original name. It still did not help, so I downloaded the full install, ran it over my game without any uninstallations, and it worked. Problem solved.

To those that completely uninstalled/reinstalled... no idea what could then be the problem.

1. Uninstall all of BF2 and SF ( execept for my profiles )
2. Install BF2
3. Patched to 1.22 (full patch) - test run works
4. Install SF
5. Patched to 1.22 (full patch) - test run works
6. Install EF
7. Patched to 1.22 (full patch) - test run works
8. Changed Localication file, skipped intro movie, renamed BF2.exe

And it still works !!! Hooray !

Allright, excuse me now, I have to kill some mods... See you later !

Actually, you dont need to Uninstall BF2 at all. I had the same problem with the incremental and installed the FULL 1.22 right after. It ovverides the files you already have and still fixes the prblem.

It is suppose to help the game perform better. This is not tested to be true, or false. Some people change the name and the game runs smoother, and other people do not see a difference.

I think the idea behind renaming the exe is so that windows treats it as a priority app. Just found a good explanation here...

I did not see any difference when i did this but some have. Remember though to rename it back before putting on any patches or hotfixes.

Similar problem - after patching to 1.22 with 1.21-1.22 incremental patch I got the "Modified content" message on 8 out of 10 servers I tried. 2 worked fine, nothing interesting/helpfull in PB log.

Uninstalled SF and BF2, installed BF2, installed SF (with patch to 1.1), patched with 1.22 full and it works fine again. I kept my profile except the cache folder. Took me about an hour. Maybe I could resolve it with 1.22 full patch but now it's too late. Well, next tima maybe...

To the mods out there...
Maybe it sounds a bit selfish, if I request my own post for a "sticky", but all lot of people seem to have that problem with 1.22, and we have a working solution in here too. So maybe we can use this post as sticky in the 1.22 section until the next patch comes out and we start a new round of our little "Lets fix the patch" game.
Just an idea...

I downloaded and installed the full 1.22 patch and that resolved everything, of course this was after I did everything mentioned in my post above.

About changing the .exe. Apparantly Nvidia and ATI design their driver software to "maximize" efficiency of programs utilizing their hardware, but it only looks for certian .exe files (i.e. BF2.exe). So by changing the file name you deny this "maximizing" from happening, which some people argue increases performance. From my experience, its hardly even noticable. There used to be a thread on this site that mentioned all of the "little" things you can do to increase performance, but I think it may have been removed.

Well ive tired everything to fix this stupid game also. Ive uninstalled BF2 atleast 6 times now. Nothign has worked for me. Ive tried these:
1.Unistall SF and BF2
2.Restart and remove old folder
3.Restart again and install BF2
4.Restart again and install 1.22 patch, SF, 1.22 patch and restarted
5. Ran the game and still crashed at 60% at Geometries.

The game starts up fine but when i enter a server it always crashes at 59-60 %. When i repatch it i have to repatch it several times because it will get so far then stop, restat the patch and stop at a new farther point and i would repatch it till i got to patch completed. Any advice on how to get it to stop crashing at 60%?

EA of course is no help with there stupid crap

I've found that before you install any patch or new expansion pack, it is a good idea to put all the file names back to what it was. BF2.exe and the movie files just to be safe. Then run the patch. The first patch I ever installed on BF2, I did not put them back to their original names, installed the patch and broke it.

Installing the full patch did not fix the problem. I had to reinstall the entire game and repatch. When I installed BF2SF and 2.21 I made sure I put the BF2.EXE file name and movies back to original. Installed game and patch and no problem.

I have not installed 1.22 yet but I imagine as long as I reset the file names back before I install the patch, I'll be fine.
