Well, i got half way through DOOM 3, and couldn't go on. It's very scary but the gameplay was just shit too..

I'm gonna lend F.E.A.R off my friend on tuesday when i get my new graphics card. From what i hear, if i can't handle DOOM 3, god knows how far i'm gonna get in F.E.A.R! lol

Doom 3 is a good FPS, if a bit repetitive, but it is not scary, after the first level, you know what to expect. Also since seeing the film I cannot take the game seriously.

F.E.A.R. better game than doom and scarier. More disturbing than doom style jumpiness.

Silent Hill is amazing. Disturbrbng and twisted with the best cahracter designs ever (pyramid head). This is a real survival horror rather than doom and fear all action FPS stuff. Scariest game i ever played.

Resi games are very good but not particularly scary. Resi 4 has alot of panicy scnes and jumpy moments, but isnt scary even tho it is one of my fav games.

Project Zero I founfd very tense, but slow and boring.

Other good horror games are forbidden siren (Siren in america) and Eternal darkness. There are more, but i cant think of them at the moment

Well, I cant say Ive played with FEAR.
I had it, but my pc couldnt really handle it, and when i could get the fps above 10 and started a game it was so f**kin ugly it scared me and I deleted it after 5 mins, so I can say that it IS a scary game even if u have a crappy pc.
For me The Suffering and Clive Barker's Undying were there scariest so far...

Agreed. If they ever make another Aliens vs Predator movie (The one thay made now sucks balls), they should just copy the storyline from the game AVP2. Especially the marine missions really had that 'Aliens' feel.

They should have scripted out the movie from this text. It is perfect, and it isn't some dumbass Antarctica "pyramid scheme," pardon the pun. I felt nothing as humans died off one after another. The characters sucked. 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse' was leagues better...

I just hope to god that nobody ever tries to make a movie out of Diablo. If Uwe Boll got his dirty kraut mitts on it, I would lose all faith in the industry.

Doom 3 i thought was scary before playing FEAR in this way:

Doom 3 Pre-FEAR:
1st Level scared me and made me jump
2-1st Hell Level Scared me quite a bit and i stopped

Doom 3 Post-FEAR:
ROFL you gotta be kidding me this is kiddy stuff

FEAR isnt scary but gets to you on the mental level that it moulds your fears into the games story line to make it apear scary, currently on a 3week recovery from the vent scene lol

I still think Thief 2 is scarier than F.E.A.R. And the infamous orphanage map on Thief 3 overshadows anything I've seen in the newer "scary" FPS's. I still remember going up those spiral stairs, stopping when I was hearing the noise, creeping forward, listening to the noise get more frantic...and finally turning around and heading back downstairs.

The Thief series, in my opinion, does a great job at bringing the old, long-buried "z0mg I'm gonna be seen; gonna get caught" gut-twisting hand-in-cookie-jar feeling to digital reality.

The minute a soldier exploded into a red cloud of blood puffs when I split his head open like a melon made me laugh, which isn't what F.E.A.R. promised. However, the "vision" scenes were cool. But why nobody's trying to emulate the visceral gore of Soldier of Fortune, I'll never know.

F.E.A.R is so mother fucking scary its unbelievable, just get the demo if your not sure about it.

Also i randomly found this free online game which is actually quite scary and yet well its free and online, you don't get free online scary games and yet here one is http://www.thelasttube.com/
Its supposed to advertise creep, which is a damn good film to watch at night in the dark, i havn't been on the tube since lol

Doom 3, I basicly cried half way through because my heart was under too much stress from all the beating. I had to take a 2 week break half way through, and when I came back I rushed through it as fast as I could to end it.

I don't know why but I dont find F.E.A.R. scary at all. Got in on a Monday afternoon from a very cheap shop not far away from me. Installed it and then played the first 2 levels... Umm.. I didn't know what the hell was going on. The next day I played untill the Chapter 6. Didn't know what these are and how many of them are in the game. It was just a lot of bang boom and then an Alma and a Paxton popping up here and there and that's it. The third day I just finished the game. After that I frickin didn't know the story and anything. Well it scared me off one single time and that was when one of these automatic defence system things shot at me when I was gonna pick up a med kit.

I had to read an 58 pages long PDF-File containing the full story and all the dialogs and important things in the game afterfinishing it. It took me about 1 hour and I must admit that this PDF, nicely written, was more exciting and scaring than the whole game.

I really find the We Dont Go To Ravenholm part in Half-Life 2 much more... terrifying and psycho and scary. Havent played Doom 3 yet but if so many of you say that it's that good well... Maybe I'll give it a try.

silent Hill for me. remember wehn i was playing Silent hill 2 when i was like 13, the square head guy freaked me out. when ever you went in that room in the hotel where he had been it had some freaky ass music. it still freaks me out. and then theres that tv and the guys in the chair and theres blood on the tv and the tv has static on it. aaahhh!!! I spent hours slowly going forward cm by cm. Scared the shit out of me

I haven't played FEAR, but the scariest game I have played is AvP 1 as a marine. The areas of almost total darkness, no flashlight, and hearing the aliens running about really freaked me out. AvP 2 in comparison was kinda tame, the flashlight took away the shadows, the aliens were wussy and easy to hit - and always came from predictable directions. Of course, I played AvP2 several years after AvP1, so that might have something to do with it.

The main character is stuck in a haunted Japanese mansion full of ghosts. They're all out to kill her and all she has to depend herself with is some sort of soul-capturing camera. You even need to get the film for it! And the final boss, this one sacrificial maiden was so damn freakin hard to beat! If she so much as touches you, you're dead. Not to mention the ghosts are sometimes depicted with broken necks, and whatnot.

I once tried to play Silent Hill 2, alone in total darkness but I coudnt stand it more than 10 minutes. Thief 1,2,3 is one of my favorite games, mostly because of the sound & music.
