I just recently got my new computer parts working, and as such I felt the need to start with a fresh install of Windows. I backed up all my files on to an external hard drive, reformatted my internal hd and went to town. When it came to BF2 I wondered how I would resinstall the Special Force expansion without having to re-download it from the EA Downloader. After a few minutes tinkering, I had it. I figured I should share the proccess with you.

1. Browse to 'C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\[username*]\' using Explorer.
2. Copy the 'eagamesbf2-2006online_contentbf2-ep1' folder to a DVD or an external hard drive.
3. Re-install Windows XP.
4. Once you have Windows XP set up, install Battlefield 2 from the original CD-ROMS or DVD.
5. Install the EA Downloader.
6. Browse to 'C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\[username*]\' using Explorer.
7. Copy the 'eagamesbf2-2006online_contentbf2-ep1' folder into the above directory from the DVD or external hard drive.
8. Using a text editor (NotePad works fine) open up the 'eagamesbf2-2006online_contentbf2-ep1.eam' file.
9. Make sure the variables in the text file are set to the following.

EAM File wrote:

downloadcomplete = TRUE
decryptcomplete = TRUE
readytoinstall = TRUE
downloadencrypted = TRUE
unpackfilelocation = C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\[username*]\eagamesbf2-2006online_contentbf2-ep1
11. Start EA Downloader and make sure the status of the Special Forces expansion pack is set to 'Ready to Install'.
12. Browse to the 'eagamesbf2-2006online_contentbf2-ep1' folder and run the 'setup.exe' file while EA Downloader is running.
13. Once the install is complete make sure the status of the Special Forces expansion pack is set to 'Ready to Play'.
14. Close EA Downloader.
15. Install v1.21 full patch.

* This is your EA Downloader username.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions do not hesistate to ask! BF2S Admins, can this go in the Featured Posts section?
