The F.E.A.R. story's easy enough to understand, if someone has brain one in that thick skull of theirs. Doom was even less to the point. It just sent you spiraling down a series of random missions, occasionally interrupted by a text intermission and a couple of awesome low-res images.

But I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed in the endless stream of identical monsters toward the end, rushing at you from the middle of nowhere. It had the same, tired saw of even more poorly done sort of Halo-type latter missions (remember the endless, droll donut rooms? Anyone?)

About the only post-polygon FPS I've seen handle endless swarms of monsters with any dignity was Serious Sam. Too bad nobody plays that anymore. The broad spectrum of engine features remain impressive to this day.

you got most of it. but there are more to the story. go buy the april 2006 issue of PC Gamer. they explained the entire story of the game including parts not shown in-game that was only included in the comic book of the limited edition set.

or you can read some of it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F.E.A.R.#Story

There's more to the story, but I did not notice any gaping holes in its plot. The comic book is mostly padding. I wish I could just explain it all in three simple lines, but I refuse to do that, even with (spoiler) in the topic heading.
