How can there be a god when life is so unfair? I am finding extremely hard to believe in God going threw high school.
You may want to refer to the book of Job in regards to the fairness of life.chrnoicle wrote:

You mean God makes bets with Satan at the expense of humans? Reminds me of the God talked about before Jesus, an all powerful God who smites at will and takes out entire cities.
I don't remember why God does all the mean things to Job, but from what I remember of my studies of the Bible it seemed to be most pertinent to what chrnoicle was saying.
God does not make bets with Satan on Job's account....but rather God allows Satan to test Job because God had faith in Job's faith in him. God is a loving caring God and the only reason "bad things" happen in life and in this world is because there is sin in the world. The "unfair" lives some percieve are unfair to them because they do not get what they want or because there is pain, hunger, and suffering in the world....It is our job to reach out to those in suffering and be a good samaritan in a sense, not blame God....
If u cant disprove him why would you take a extremely good chance at spending eternity in hell? There is proof of him but u will never find it if u stick to having faith in only yourself. The bible did predict jesus coming hundreds of years before he came. We live in a perfect world thats next to impossible by happening by chance. The bibles been written for about 2000 years and nobody can even prove 1 place in the bible isnt really there. Billions of people KNOW Gods real and have seen miracles that they know werent just magic or sumthing. Go look at a possessed person that has no mental issues at all and then come say u dont believe in God. And if u follow the bible life will get better and ull live longer(thats a fact), so why not? and ur not a bad person if u dont believe in GodKEN-JENNINGS wrote:
well said, didn't really have the time to respond in such a manner. Your reasoning in regards to Brimhalls statement is sound. Basically, it is extreme chance that the earth was created and developed the way it has. And this extreme chance would be what established us as lifeforms the ability to exist from a non-theistic point of view. Bottom line, there is no evidence to prove/disprove God exists. All it will be until evidence shows otherwise is faith. I personally refuse to submit my life to someone/thing I cannot prove to exist. I do not have faith in God, I have faith in myself, and for me that is all I need. If you feel you need faith in God, fine. Just don't tell me that if I don't have that faith I am an idiot/antichrist/bad person.
a perfect man, gave his life on a cross so that you would not have to spend eternity in hell, where there is burning, torment, and nashing of teeth forever....our simplistic human minds cant understand that or anything but i would rather believe in something and a God where if i accept him as my personal savior, in doing so i go somewhere better than just in the ground. Heaven whether you think it is real or not, that is your choice, but as for me, i will believe in God the one true savior and that i am going somewhere when i die, rather than just becoming food for maggots. The choices is yours....by no means does it make you a bad person or anything....Faith is exactly that Faith....i dont think its meant to be proven becasue then it wouldnt be faith....just some things are real and others arent....

why is a baby born with sin?
a baby is not born with sin...it is born into a sinful world....until one is old enough to know the difference between right and wrong, i truly believe they are sinless, because their minds are too simplistic to understand and know what they are doing....
....my girlfriend miscarried and i truly believe my baby is up in heaven....God is a caring and loving God, he is not going to condemn a sinless innocent being to hell.....i refuse to believe that

thenm whats the point of getting baptised? Please tell me your defintion of original sin. Your interprations of doesnt seem on par with traditional christian ideaology
Catholic dogma differs a lot from traditional christian dogma...
is not the ctaholic church traditonal christian dogma, at least it was until few centuries ago. Also isnt catholosicm (?) the most widely followed version of christianity? I dont understand how one could decide which to believe in and which to overlook.
10 commandments....those are sins....and anything that is coorelated with those commandments....i am just not sure what your getting at?
you say that children are not born sinners, that they are born in a sinful world. But traditional christian dogma says that we are born sinners, we are concieved in sin.
Guys...no offense, but why are you all arguing? I mean I personally am I fan of this argument, but when you think about it, do any of you really think your going to change anyone's ideals on religion or life here. I mean I personally am an athiest, and I don't care how much these other guys are gonna say, I'm gonna stay an athiest. I don't believe in god, thats that. So why are all of you arguing on something that neither side is ever going to win? Is the glass half-empty or half-full? Well both sides are going to fight over their idea, but in the end does it really matter?
The only problem I have is that some of you say that acceptance is the key to life and we should all treat people fairly, yet you treat people like freaks because of your theological differences. This isn't about any one religious group, but a lot of you do that. You act like because someone doesn't believe in god or believes in a different god that their an inferior being and they should be pitied and thought of as people doing the wrong thing. If you have a religious idea go ahead and cherish it, just let people live their lives how THEY want to though, not how you think they should.

SilentNoise105, I doubt anyone is trying to change another's mind here. The thread was started with a simple question of what the people have posted here believe or disbelieve or have doubted. Everyone is expressing their opinion. A lot of times with a subject such as this, there are great stereotypes and not many want to be tied to them, so they share their thoughts. As an example, you just basically accused people who believe in God, a higher power, or a faith, of attacking you and trying to change your way of thought. Also you accused people who believe in faith of thinking you are somehow "inferior" to themselves. You also accused people of faith of somehow wanting you to act a certain way and live a certain way because of their beliefs. Most of what has been posted here has had the same message.
I believe in God, and can assure you, in no way would I want to change what you believe or disbelieve. I simply posted to express my opinion because I was asked, and keep reading to better understand what other people's opinions on the matter might be.

Gods real. Its a proven fact to millions of people all around the world. Jesus Christ was real, all the places he went were real, and people saw him to miracles. " The creation of ores and their placement close to the Earths surface are the result of much more than simple geologic chance. Only an exact series of physical and chemical events, occuring in the right environment and sequence and followed by certain climatic conditions, can give rise to a high concentration of these compounds so crucial to the development of civilization and technoloy."
You have ABSOLUTELY no idea how likely a planet like ours was in the universe.

He's a geologist.
Not a cosmologist.
Not a physicist.
Not a biolgist.
That is not his expertise, therefore he cannot comment on this matter.
He doesn't, I don't believe, had a true appreciation fo just how BIG the universe is.
He doesn't, I don't believe, know that life is far more adaptive than you make it to be.
Strains of bacteria have the ability to survive temperatures of a few hundred degrees AND freezing at the same time.
Strains of bacteria have been found and dated to over 200 MILLION YEARS OLD!
Strains of bacteria have been found happily in NUCLEAR REACTOR CORES!
We developed from these same bacterium.
If the conditions had been different, then WE would be different. He does not know any other way that life could have been formed, so naturally he assumes this is the ONLY way.

Liberal dogma stays the same... criticize those who oppose your viewpoint. Call them an idiot when presented with facts. Call them a nazi when they want people held accountable for their actions. yaddy yaddy yaddaMarconius wrote:

In catholicism the pope = holy father.
In the Bible God = Holy Father.
In the Bible the pope <> God.
Therefore according to the Bible the pope cannot be the holy father.
the bible was written in different parts of the world at different times and all came to make sense and its all true. there arent billions of people in other religions that see miracles happening. and spark life is possible in other places, maybe even advanced life. im not saying there isnt life in other places and its not possible for life to happen. but life on earth did not happen by chance. i know more about this than u do and everything is too perfectly placed for us to have been blown up out of nothing and billions of years went by and we popped out by accident.

all based on opinion but i would rather believe in something rather than nothing, i would rather believe im going somewhere else rather than no where....so i choose to have faith in the one true God....but thats exactly what it is....a choice....When Christ returns, we will all see and know who was right and believing in the right Savior and God....
