I recently purchased a leadtek a6600gt (AGP) because I wanted to be able to play the game in at least medium settings. When I got the gfx card I was a little dissapointed with the performance so I upgraded to a fortron 400w power supply. Still I am getting low fps despite other people constantly saying they can easily run this card with no lag with all medium settings. I used fraps to benchmark my system with all medium settings and averaged 3 benchmarks. In single player strike at karkand I averaged about 40fps and in multiplayer I averaged 30fps or less.

Here are my specs:

AMD Athlon 3200 XP
FIC AU31
1GB PC2700 RAM
Leadtek Windfast A6600GT TDH
160GB Hard Drive
Windows XP Home
Newest forceware drivers

any help would be greatly appreciated

The 6600 GT, contrary to popular belief, is not a perticularly powerful card. I'm assuming you also have the AGP version, since you have an Athlon XP, which is probably a little slower than the PCI-E version.

The only thing I can suggest is lower a few settings, maybe turn AA/AF off if you are using them, since nVidia cards get raped by those enhancements. Also, you could try overclocking it to boost your framerate a little, they overclock reasonably well, especially the Leadtek models.

If you're running at 30-40FPS at medium settings with a 6600GT AGP, you should be happy. My 6800Ultra occasionally chokes and sometimes crashes if I try to run on 64 player servers with full detail at 1280x960.

If you want more FPS knock off AA (like someone previously said), and lower the dynamic lighting and shadows just a bit (or disable them entirely).

Your RAM is also bottlenecking your PC.

I play 1024x768 everything off/low on an XP2400+, 1GB Geil Ultra DDR400 and a 6600GT. And I still only get about 30fps in 64player servers.
