BF2S Forums high ping with new patch

Haven't tried the re-install yet but last night while playing Karkand my game crashed to the desktop-1st time that has EVER happened in 3 months of playing.
If it keeps doing that crap I will definitely try the re-install.
BTW, is there a way to just un-install the patches so I can try just re-installing them?(Yes, I tried a quick search with no luck)

Cpu=AMD64 3200
Ram=1024mb Hyperx PC4000
Vid=ATI 9800Pro 128mb
Sound=SBLive Value 5.1

I've noticed the lag is the wost for the first 10 minutes of each map, then it gets better.
And as usual it spikes during a 1on1 fire fight that end up losing w/seemingly one hit to my body-argh!
As soon as my Spec. Forces disc arrives(I know, I'm late getting this) I'm going to do a fresh install of all.
