Some of you already know about this and it will unfortunately not work with ati graphics cards for some reason but if you have an nvidia try this out. Download the free version and type in your address, watch in amazement as the satellite image from space zooms right in on top of your house. I can actually see my car in the driveway.  http://earth.google.com/
Heres another really cool satellite site: http://www.fourmilab.ch/earthview/
And for those NASA Fan's like me you'll love this site, you can check when the ISS or Shuttle will be flying over your area so you can see it.I've been doing this since they started the first mission and have seen it grow.
Satellite Sighting Information: http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/si … /index.cgi
I just thought I would add this last one for The Really Brave and with the means to actually go into orbit as a tourist.
Space Vacation: http://www.virgingalactic.com/en/
I hope you enjoy.

Oh ok must be my other pc with the ati it wouldn't work on that 1,sorry my bad. It would be very difficult to track the station with a telescope as it's moving at like in excess of 17,000 miles per hour I think. You can see it with the naked eye or maybe track with binoculars, have'nt tried, But it is awesome to see. It looks like a ufo.

Google earth does not allow such a big zoom on my homecity, although its not a small town. Actually its Dortmund, located in the the fourth largest urban area in Europe.

That's too bad but hey at least you can view the ISS right? If your city is not listed just pick the closest one and you'll see it for sure.

I havn't found any restrictions on the zoom level...
I've play with google earth for hours upon hours finding landmarks and such. I can easily see my house and I don't live in a big city. I've found some pretty small things all over the world so I don't know why you would be able to zoom in on your house :S

Isn't Area 51 marked on it? Either way, very very very easy to find. Go for harder stuff like the leaning tower or the Arch in St. Louis.

I think the problem is that there isn't any data (for a big zoom) for my area yet. I looked at the north american continent a few minutes ago and I see much more details than in the european countrys.
Maybe you can try it yourself: about 51°30' N 7°28 E

Yeah, google earth is pretty fun to mess with for a while.

And to the guys looking at the ISS: This website, www.heavensabove.com tells when the ISS will be passing in your area, at what degree, etc. but also tells about thousands of other satellites passing over your area. Pretty cool site. One of the cool things about it is it tells you what the satellite is. First night I used the site I saw a military communications satellite and a phone signal satellite.

People really need to get the fact that Area 51 is just an aircraft testing site into their heads. It's been open for years now but people still think of it as some secret alien holding place.

Google earth rocks...

I actually noticed that the swimming pool at my apartment complex is shaped like a certain male sexual organ...

Try to find Fort Buckner, Okinawa for example and if you get a clear shot let me know

I have an ati and it works on my computer.  I've had in since hurricane katrina (looking at louisiana with it) and it's worked fine the whole time.
