If he got 35k out of the pads he's not really pushing them hard enough to warp them

Still need them to wear evenly. Might as well get them cut while you are there instead of coming back a week later complaining about a brake vibration.

Automatics in stop-start driving occasionally warp the discs, sitting on the brake at lights causes a cold spot which can cause warpage.

My Subaru is still on its first front discs at 120,000 km, the rears had to be changed thanks to the retard warping my discs for me.

by all accounts it's poorly built, super impractical and the steering has a mind of it's own but all those things somehow make me want it more

yar and it only had 50km on the clock. practically new.

http://www.caradvice.com.au/325132/merc … ec-hybrid/

It's pretty much a fake hybrid since the motor and battery is pretty small. only kicks in when minimal power is needed eg driving around carparks and cruising on highways etc. But it's super torque for that 1-2 secs of acceleration that's needed though.

German cars are awful to maintain and service. And they have so many problems too. Would not buy one used with 30k miles on it.

You would be surprised how many people buy cars they don't know how to maintain or the cost of doing so.

technically it's my 'mum's' car but she's currently overseas and she rarely drives so yeh. lucky me lulz.

Macbeth: got 3 years servicing thrown in. and it's capped price servicing here in aus, so it's like 900 bucks per 25000km so not too bad. I bought a showroom model that's only 30 miles on it.

My wife thought that you just had to pour more oil in the engine. The concept of changing the oil was completely foreign to her until about five years ago. I don't know how she got through the first ten years of her driving career.

Jay, I have a friend who used to work in a transmission shop that still does the same thing.  4 cars, no oil changes.  Only additions.  There's a reason why the guy goes from one POS to another.  He currently drives a prius as a company car.  Luckily his work takes care of that one.

I've been to Taichung.  That's where boba was invented, right? I went there with one a rep from one of our manufacturing partners.  I'm sure you've heard of Unihan/Pegatron?

no Pegatron is like #2 EMS/OEM in the world behind Foxconn.  They are a Taiwanese company, HQ is in Taipei.  Our rep from Pegatron took me there.

I went to karaoke in Hsinchu.  It was pretty fucking crazy.
