more ram will definatly help, and if you have the money, a new gfx card and psu would help

Hi,

It's more than likely that your PSU is the problem.

I was running my 6600GT on a 300W (which is the min spec) and was having the same issues.

The 6600GT also needs plenty of amps on the +12v rail (the details will be on the side of your PSU)
The PSU should be outputting at least 17-18amps (i think) to run the card

I upgraded to a 550W and this solved it, I now average about 70-80fps in battlefield with most of my settings on Med, textures on High and AA on x4 (although is does go down to 30ish when arty is raining down)

Hope this helps, it worked for me..

p4 3ghz
768 mbram
gforce fx 6600 256 mb agp

its pretty close to his system btw if i want to have it some faster what u recommend to upgrade?

i have another question: i play special forces, and it turns pretty smooth but when i try to fly an apache
i suddenly get major lagg i dont know why.... but when i go into a blackhawk then it still works smooth

shit man, this is going to be an expensive deal , I think I'll try a 400 W PSU but the RAM is weak too, is it worth it to invest abaout 200 € in uprading a computer like mine?
PSU 400 W  =  100 €
additional RAM 512 MB = 100€

I think you could probably buy a reasonable PCI-E system now for around £500, not sure how many euros that is, but you would have more upgradeability on the system & would run things better If you went for an AMD you could use your old ram as well.

A 100 € for that is a good deal, but it may not be worth upgrading a computer like yours. If you are really on a budget, you should take it.

well for around 700 euro's i bought my pc:

pentium 3 GHz with HT
2 x 512  MB RAM
dual layer dvd burner
cd/dvd reader
350 or 300 watt power (dont know)

gforce 6200 tc PCI-E
ok this card is crap i know, but my budget wasn't big enough at that time.
soon i will buy a new graphics card.. im thinkin of a 6800 GS xxx
or a 7800 gt (the last 1 would take me more time to get the money)

-->but is the power supply  enough to feed the hungry 7800 or 6800?<--
caus i dont want things 2 fuck up when i just spend out all the money i have...

thnx allot,

my old sys ran ok but was laggy on big servers...XP2400, FX5700 ultra, 1.3g ram most settings on low 2 on medium no aa....new sys is sweet 2gb ram faster cpu FX7800gt 550 watt PSU.....save up for the 7800gt make sure u get a 500w PSU and try to get 2g of ram, atleast have 1g minimum...300 watt PSU may not cut it for the 7800gt, think i paid £45 for my 550 watt...whats the exchange rate for euros?
