well only the experts should stick to hijackthis because perm deleting a file through that program can throughly screw up your machine.
True...but you don't need to be a pro to use HijackThis.
For basic users, it's pretty much a hassle...
Everytime I recommend a newbie to HijackThis, I tell them to search up everything on the internet (the processes etc) to see whether it's spyware etc. before taking action and also not to touch anything that the user doesn't know after doing the research.
Sending the info to a comp tech forum works too... there are tons of those around... or you could send to me when I have the time, and I'll look into it for you.

I've been using Firefox for about three weeks now and my computer runs A LOT slower than when I used IE.
Extensions (not just handy for porn...)
When I was in Korea I had IE problems on a daily basis. Failures to connect, crashes, pop-ups, images not loading. I switched to Firefox and have had no complaints. The download manager is +1.
FIREFOX FTW!!!
*Comcast subscribers get free McAfee AV and firewall.
Also, what are some of the essential Extensions / Addons? There are way too many
I'm running the following extensions:
1) CacheViewer: good for viewing your cache and getting all those flash files etc. without doing it manually
2) FasterFox: Automatically makes all the changes to optimize firefox (basically everything you just did could have been automated w/ fasterfox)
3) Adblock: exactly what the name says
4) Adblock.Filterset.G Updater: Updates the Adblock filter
5) IE tab: has a render that allows you to switch to IE while in firefox (basically, it's running IE in a firefox tab)
6) Video Downloader: Lets you download videos from Youtube and other video streamers
7) Down Them All!: Good for ub3r fast downloading and downloading everything off of one url (basically, easy downloading and no more manually downloading one-by-one each picture from an url.)
Hope it helped!

Yeah, firefox is an amazing proactive spyware tool.
How about opera? I use it for all my surfing. I think it is very good to use especially when googling and stuff like that. With the mouse oriented navigation and all. I haven't had any problems yet but i wounder if it is good against spy/adware. Anybody who knows?
Its a MAC product, so probably.
or use a mac...
or use a Linux machine which is 100000000000000x more preferrable.
Good, now i can surf without fear.
Well, you still should be careful!
i dont know where u get your "warez" but ive never had a issue with software with a virus in recent memory. keygens can be a danger though.
BitDefender imo is one of the better AV packages, and barely uses system resources, it comes with a decent spyware tool also.
but i still use Ewido and spybot

Well, if you want to take care of Spyware the best was possible, go with SpyWare Doctor, it is the current best anti-spyware/ malware program on the market.

Never had a virus or spyware before, been using computers 10 years.
I use Norton internet security and my browser is IE6.
I really don’t see what the deal is with viruses etc, I can only imagine you have to be stupid to get them.
The 3 golden rules are:
- Never open emails from people you don’t know.
- Always install the latest service packs and windows updates.
- Avoid warez and porn sites.
That computer is such a piece a shit. A virus would run from it. There's a reason you can't get A virus. There outdated and nobody thinks they exist anymore. Can you even put windows xp in that, probably not.Jamalen wrote:
I built a seperate PC up just for office work and surfing the net, Built a 1ghz P3 system with 256mb RAM with parts from ebay for £47 (about $60), coupled with an old monitor and running Xubuntu linux (downloaded free).
It runs JUST as fast as my BF2 pc online, and I never have to worry about Spyware, Viruses or other Malware as Linux is teflon coated and that shit justs slides off...
There are still old viruses for old OSs. People like to have a sense of nostalgia and will keep them just to see who's been an idiot and not upgraded.
I found that a program called "Hitman Pro 2" works exceptionally well in ridding all of your virus woes. I've been using it for a while and it works great and I highly recommend it. Yes, the program is just a bunch of well known programs rolled into one, I know. The great thing about it is that it does ALL the work for you. Just download it, install it, then press 'start' and sit back and enjoy a virus free computer.
Post your comments here about it. I know you'll love it.

But if the Computer does its intended puropse, for 60 dollars what is wrong with that? While I am not a big fan of that Distro of Linux, it is linux nonetheless and it is a great OS for office work. (light clean and reasource friendly)Baglicka wrote:
