Last time I checked, the world had about 6.5 billion residents. If the population continues to increase at estimated rates, we will find ourselves at an unsustainable level. So, what do we do?

I say we begin plans to colonize space, but how?

I have heard others say
Lunatics-"just go kill ____."
Students- "We can't have that many people here...." and then walk away without saying anything more.
"Realists"- "Some will just starve"

So, what should we (the world) do? Let's hear some plausible ideas.

Have you ever charged an attack chopper, emptying your AK at it and screaming "WOLVERINES!!"

Hmm...well I'm gonna say most likely a war. Those who are starving will go get it by other means even by war if they see fit. Then again wars have helped to control population since the very beginning. Just wonder how it should be done

most first world nations have negative population growth this is attributed to education, and on top of education sex ed
third world nations have positive population growth sometimes growth as high as 3 and a half percent...

problem solved
add "colonize space" to your dumb scenarios for solving this problem.

Yes, war and disease have been important in population control. I was looking for a positive solution though. I know teraforming is still kind of out there, but I think it deserves some more research.

Yup that's excatly why and they wouldn't abort the baby, they would hide the pregnancy and bind the childrens feet and drown them at the river. But that was back in the day but I belive the stats are 8 men to every 1 woman, all so they didn't have to pay a dowerly(spelling).

the next pandemic is long overdue and historically seen these things have sometimes put a mayor blow to population. especially in poorer countries with too little hygene. and usually those are also the countries with high birth rates.

the sad reality is that those who cannot be fed will indeed starve. that is already common in africa, where tenths of thousands of people die each year simply because they cannot be fed. It is a self-regulatory process that is inherent to nature.
