Went bowling and got drunk finally, lol. Still drunk as shit right now. I had 6 Jack & Cokes, it's amazing what that will do for your bowling game
More importantly, how're your scores?
Achieved a new high of 142 with several other 100+ score games. Not the greatest but a definite improvement for me over the past two times in the last year, makes me appreciate the practice a little more.

Unless you've got your own ball, straight is best anyway. The cores in alley balls don't really facilitate a hook.
Basically, you throw it with your hand turned naturally sideways, rather than underhanded. Don't pull your wrist towards the front of your body (you'll probably gutter) and aim to the right of the center. It will get a slight spin bias just from being released in such a manner. About 1/2-2/3 down the lane, the ball will start to roll towards the center and if you're lucky, strike around pins 1 & 2 (if you're a lefty) or 1/3 (if you're right-handed). It's an almost guaranteed strike. There are things you can do to a ball to facilitate spin for this method, such as drilling another hole in it, but if you ever want to go with an underhanded power roll on a shot, it will throw you off._j5689_ wrote:

You can substitute with an alley ball by starting an underhanded roll and then twisting your wrist (not pulling) when you near the release point.

Yeah it is still possible, it's just a lot more work on your end than the interaction of the ball and oil. However, most peoples games can be improved by just taking a few steps left or right of center to have a better shot at the strike pockets instead of going head-on into 1 and causing splits all the time. (I took a bowling class for fun my last semester of college. Got my average to increase by 25 pins )

True enough. I've done that with unmodified balls, but I've still had better results by going for a curve. People gutter a lot when they're learning how (it's hard to train them not to swing their arm across their body when they're trying for it), but the results are definitely worth it. Learned how when I was a teenager and saw immediate results when I got the hang of it.

My average went from 112 to 138. High game was 183 on last class of the year. Result. The class did help me play a lot more consistently. Threw a lot less gutters and made more spares by learning how to use the arrows on the lane, and practing swing/step rhythm kept me from floundering like a dunce.

back when i drank, i accidentally a 210. hanen't come close to that since, i average 148. lol, bowling scores =/= IQ - i wish i were a 148 iq . . .
