think i'm gonna let it drop off now before i get attached. what do you asian experts reckon? cybargs? is dating some rich hong kong heiress going to be too much hassle? is she going to drop the gwailo for a nice little boy back at home? she actually seems pretty genuine and has told her mum and friends about me already. none of my friends have ever dated an asian before so i can't get any good advice. overall i'm pretty happy to let this one lie as a fantastic and unlikely anecdote to bring out occasionally at parties. my wild weekends with the 21st century master-race.

I have a friend whose from a rich HK family and they have a house in HK. If you have a house in HK, you are at the tippy top of the rich world. She's been dating her boyfriend for 4 years and her parents did not know about it until she told them at her uni graduation. So for your girl to drop 1 mil quid for a house is considered 'cheap' for HK standards. Asians would invest a lot of capital into real estate since they can't trust the stock market and they believe in the value of land.

I doubt she'd go back for a 'local' HK man since there's a reason why she's dating a gwailo. Oh and Asian parents hate white boys until their daughters pop cute little mixed babies. You keep this up she'll end up as favourite child. HKers aren't obsessed with foreign citizenship like Chinese... HK is already a tier 1 global city similar to Singapore. You don't see many Japanese people wanting to emigrate or naturalize either. If she lived in the UK for that long it's not hard for her to get permanent residency and hence citizenship later on. A HK passport is quite convenient already, she might even have a BNO passport (I know a lot of HKers do).

If she has a genuine personality then it's all good. Sure she might have a ton of luxury bags and what not but that's the standard in HK. It's not weird or outstanding that some 20ish year old carries bags that's worth thousands of pounds.

yeah, she said the same about real estate. in my neighbourhood the houses are anywhere from £1-5 million maybe, really nice big opulent english houses, and she expressed surprise about the prices. "but in hong kong 1 mill is really nothing..." yeah alright, we gave it back 20 years ago! space is at a premium i understand, hence why her vertical farming entrepreneurial idea probably has legs...

her last ex was a white kid as well, not a lot like me though in terms of personality and style. more your usual preppy, blazer wearing white kid. i guess she's been here for half a decade, which is long enough to 'go native' in terms of taste. she told me asian guys are not deep or interesting, and all express the same opinions. i think she finds them boring. she plays LoL and smokes weed and likes going to techno clubs in berlin. i guess she doesn't really fit the mould for usual 'rich HK girl' that all the rich asian guys are looking for. but then again i don't really have much of a clue about that whole dating world.

and yes i'm learning already that all the insane luxury accessories and over-the-top spending is just the 'normal' way of fitting in. i've seen it myself in western people but i guess it's turbo-charged for asians who want to play catch-up and seem to match or even 'best' the cultured westerners at their own game. everything she has is like ridiculous boutique or luxury. i think she would normally annoy me or strike me as shallow, although she obviously cannot be shallow, because she's going absolutely crazy for me when i really don't bother being a show-off anymore about wealth or designer brands (maybe when i was an 18-21 year old student and insecure, but definitely don't give a fuck now i'm 25). we make an interesting couple when in public – her in illegal fur coats and the latest chanel clutch bags, me looking like an impoverished writer stumbling out of an opium den or something. but she loves it, constantly taking photos/videos and showing me off to all her friends.

funnily enough a pretty hot asian girl i used to hang around with always called me matt smith. it's heart-warming to know asians are as face-blind about white people as i am about most of them.

it was really too easy, it makes me suspicious. like with hot white girls, there's a whole ritual... you have to take them to the theatre, ballet, galleries, whatever... line-up all the signifiers and stake your place in the class/culture social hierarchy. with this, an asian girl who is probably in the same league for asians as the white native chicks i date, there was zero effort at all. nada. we spoke for like a week and she immediately invited me down to her place to stay for a whole weekend, cooking for me, taking me out, etc. the second night she confessed all this deeply personal stuff to me and opened up, almost immediately trusting. don't get me wrong, it's all awesome, but i'm like... i didn't do any work for this? this is just mine now, for the taking? and she'll get on a train for 2.5 hours and come to see me every weekend? uuuuuh ok? sure?!?
