I would still like to meet the one New Yorker who experienced 9/11 while on acid. What a trip that must have been.
They weren't all mass shootings though.
"Incidents were classified as school shootings when a firearm was discharged inside a school building or on school or campus grounds"
10 of those 45 shootings had 1+ people dying. Looked up a couple and one was drunk students firing guns. Another was a result of 2 families fighting after being thrown out of attending a game.

Yeah, the fact that those incidents can happen still seems weird to me.

I suspect the gun/anti-gun debate should be resolved here in bf2s within the next two pages. Thus allowing everyone to submit it to their respective governments and world peace shall occur!
Remember where you were guys, it's happening right here right now.

I was listening to right wing radio and they brought up the fact that more people die in car accidents than die by guns and it is Obama and the democrat's fault for that happening because vehicle regulations have made smaller cars with lighter material necessary. The guy spent a good few minutes talking about that.
You think it's gonna take that long? 2 pages may take 500 years on this forumpirana6 wrote:

From what I have read, mass shootings with high casualties have gone up considerably since 2007. 2007 was also the year the global economy crashed. I am not blaming this on economic reasons totally. But I think the larger breakdown of nation states, failure of capitalism, and globalization helps cause these things.
Every mass shooter has been a bored young man. Western nations used to send their surplus men to go fight in the holy land, the new world, or colonial Africa. We don't live in a world where can we relieve demographic pressure by sending excess men some place to do something to keep them busy and out of trouble at home. (Muslim countries are doing this right now by happily allowing their men to go die in Syria).
Capitalism was supposed to create world peace and opportunity for everyone but it hasn't worked out like that. Instead opportunities have dissolved in many western countries as capital has fled to make more profit in the third world. This left behind tens of millions of young men in the west with nothing to do with little chance of improvement.
To make matters worse, mass immigration and forced participation in a global market place is breaking down national barriers and identities. Instead of nations of people built along cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic lines, everyone is just an individual in a multicultural society were support systems have been atomized and disjointed. To make it worse, western leaders are pushing globalization where you the individual have to compete not only with the people nearest to you but also globally for the scraps given to you by a global capitalist class that is without borders.
So much downward pressure on societies will of course help people who are already mentally ill become worse and snap. Obviously most mass shooters are crazy people but I think there is a lot more anger and frustration lurking beneath the surface in today's young people that will eventually find a way to express itself.

Where do you hear in the media about the breakdown of national borders and identities as a result of globalization and free trade? The mainstream media is the worst group of all when it comes to this.

Neither of which has denounced capitalism. Bernie complains about trade deals and taxes while Trump focuses on illegal immigrants and defends lawful immigration in the same breath.
Come on, no one talks about free trade creating a global culture at the expense of individuals and national health. The media will say that is crazy talk.

What are you talking about? They were going on and on about Picketty last year and there's a mention of income inequality at least once a day.SuperJail Warden wrote:

Frankly, they don't bring it up because by every measure trade has increased quality of life globally. What you're shilling is freshman year socialism is rad stupidity.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_End_o … e_Last_Man"What we may be witnessing is not just the end of the Cold War, or the passing of a particular period of post-war history, but the end of history as such: that is, the end point of mankind's ideological evolution and the universalization of Western liberal democracy as the final form of human government."
He has since pulled back from that idea but there are still plenty of people going around who think capitalism is what is going to save the world.
