I think Spec Ops is still a great class. It's the one I played the most pre-patch, and it's still my favorite (I just got the veteran badge AFTER the patch). I was never really a C4 chucker to begin with, only really in desperate situations. I have no problem with running up to a vehicle and sticking one too it. It's a challenge, but if you pay attention to how someone is driving, you can set yourself up to pull it off. Always satisfying.

Unfortunately, I'm still finding bugs with the C4/detonator switch mechanism... I don't know how many times I've blown up before the switch was even out.

no really, i agree here
didn't they weaken AA in a previous patch because of lame community whining? that's a perfect example of what you're talking about.

Why can't you throw C4 in real life? It's inert. If it was TNT it'd be a bit more dangerous... You can try to set C4 on fire (like with a match or lighter or something) and it wont explode.

And I wish you could still throw things (ammo bags, health kits, grenades, AT mines, C4, etc.) while jumping. I thought it was the shooting and grenade launching that were the ploblem.

the new patch sucks in my oppinion. u can no longer throw medic packs to near by team mates, and u have to walk right up to the tank or apc to stick on the c4.
hey, theres an idea. you stick a c4 to a tank. the way it was intended to be. not throw it like some kind of magnetic tags like before 1.2 patch. even if it was magnetic it wont stick to the chobham armor anyways because it is made from composite materials.

They should of required snipers to use a clacker to manually detonate claymores.  As well as made engineers dig a hole in the ground using an e-tool to place a mine then required to screw in a tilt rod on it.

Actually, I *think* it should be easier to get the expert badge now since mines can't be destroyed by shooting them (and aren't they team friendly now?) and claymores (which I also believe are team friendly).

Have you guys ever thought of setting down the C4 in a well traveled route, then wait for armor to pass over it so you can blow it up? Nah that would be too much patience wouldn't it?

And I am not talking about leaving it in the open, use camoflague and put it behind a bush/telephone pole/around a wall. Just like you had to hide exp packs in BF1942.

get some brains moran, c4 is not supposed to be thrown
just because you cant unrealistically chuck it at people and then blow you and everyone else up does not mean that spec ops sucks
the whole purpose of a spec ops is to be sneaky, thats not them being pussies thats them using the kit for what its meant for, if you want to play spec ops in pre 1.2 mode then put in a request to EA for a suicide bomber class, otherwise get used to it
dumbass yes it is and it can be there is no reason a c4 should be pinned to the ground get a c4 a detonator and your ready no need for "REALISM" when you frickin want fun

What the hell is a Moran? Do you mean a moron? C4 should be able to be thrown. For instance.
Left mouse button, allows you to drop C4 normally. And by holding the left mouse button, you will be able to hold it. Right mouse button, after being held down, increases your throw, and letting go of it will let you throw it.
C4 can be throw. But it seems you believe it is Plastic Explosives. There is a difference.
EDIT: I hit submit only once. I did not continuesly hit it. Just a weird posting glitch.

"in RL you could throw C4 so so much further than in 1.12!"

ummm Yeah ..

While I was not a "SpecOps' guy while I was in.   I was a Cav Scout.  We were trained in explosives.  I never once was taught how throwing C4 was a good tactic in battle.   Realistically it would not be as effective as say a grenade against infantry.  There is no shrapnel effect.    Put your C4 in a mess kit, slap a remote detonater inside, then maybe, if the detonator still goes off after making impact.

Now maybe someone from the Spec Ops world will come on and correct me, but I sincerely doubt it.

Well, realistically, without some sort of a shaped charge it probably wouldnt penatrate the armor of an M1 at all.  You could blow off tread and road wheels though.

As far as the game goes. I thinnk the C4 on the vehciles or as booby traps makes sense.  As a grenade, not so much.

C4 is  a type of plastic explosive.
http://www.ribbands.co.uk/prdpages/C4.htm

If the packs the spec ops are using is some sort of special " Det Pack", then it should not be called C4

Heck! SpecOps isnt given C4 just to be thrown like a frisbee, there to be used tactically. You have Over 5 choices of weapons to noob around with.

"required snipers to use a clacker "
or a trip wire.  If you want realism instead of fun.

Though I still dont necessarily like the fact that mines are now team friendly.  Must be really high tech stuff.
I beleive, though, that is a server setting.  Can anyone confirm that ?

those c4 thwroer never bothered me i use to headhshot them most of the time before they can even pull the trigger...
But the people with no aiming skills complained so they changed it
Now i kill them even quicker lol
I got my expert explosives badge tossing C4. I have aiming skills with the rifle. 1.2 is still better. Throwing C4 ruined the game. It was starting to get out of hand as more and more people learned how to do it. It's a lot more fun having two squads fight each other with rifles than to have one guy throw C4 and blow them all up. If you ever watched a 5v5 infantry ladder match you'd see nothing but C4 tossing. That's really lame and not what the game was intended to be.

The spec ops class is mainly for infiltration, covert operations and destroying enemy assets, not c4 chucking. the kits c4 is to be used to carry out objectives such as blowing up the UAV trailer and Artillery.

AMEN!!  The fags that chucked C4 from 20 feet away at me then blew it up before it even hit the ground...freaking gay...not real at all.  Plus, I tried it myself, I never saw how you could even throw it that far.  Plus, everytime I tried to switch to the detonator and hit the button to blow it up, it would freaking switch back to the C4 pack and I would toss one at my feet...suicide and a kill...YEAH!!!
For that alone I'm glad they fixed it.  Not being able to jump and "toss" it or anything else over a mere fence approximately 4 feet away...not cool...along with not being able to jump and fire.  My noobtoobing and DOA-12 tactics have been greatly diminished...lol.

LoL  You can smash a blob of c4 with a hammer all day till your blue in the face and it won't go off . You can drop it off a 100 story building - still won't go off . You need a detonator . And this is why c4 is used . You can carry it and not have to worry about it going off blowing you up because you jumped on the ground prone to fire at something lets say . Or if you get into a car wreck for example . That's why it is favored by the US Army and just about every other nation . As for tossing C4 of course you can - in RL . It's called a stachle charge . People in WW1 Would hide in debris and actually place it or toss it onto tanks and run like hell , boom goes the tank . It roughly wieghs about 10 pounds . I'm by no means a body building Special forces studd but I can assure you I can throw a ten pound object more then 15 feet easy . Hell I remeber when I was in the army I red in my feild manual that they even placed satchle charges on long branches to shove it under tank turrets from windows or from ditches . They have a fuse , its very simple . Kind of like the sticky bomb in Saving Private Ryan . They could have just as easily tossed the bombs on the tank instead of placing them by hand .
