FYI...

If anyone uses AVAST, you'll probably be kicked from bf3 if you do the update.  I did and was.  Kinda a bummer for me cause I've always liked avast.

Here's the fix I found after going google warrior on it.

In AVAST:

Go to: Real Time Shields - File System Shield - Expert Settings

In Expert Settings choose Exclusions

Add these lines:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\pnkbstra.exe
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\pnkbstrb.exe
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\pnkbstrb.xtr
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\pnkbstrb.ex0
