Romney tried again and again to make that "Four years closer to a nuclear Iran" a soundbite. Unfortunately it's not very good and it doesn't make sense. It tries to do two things; spread fear and blame Obama for it - and it fails on both counts.

It implies that a nuclear Iran is inevitable, and on that is basically saying "in the last four years, exactly four years have passed." Plus it doesn't exactly make sense to blame Obama for this unless you're implying that under someone else the continuing passage of time would have miraculously ground to a halt.

Didn't catch much of the debate. I hear there were mentions of bayonets and horses. Meme material to the same degree as 'Folders of Women' or no?

Romney was bitching about the size of the navy. Obama countered that ship capabilities today are different than ship capabilities in 1917 and added the "we have fewer horses and bayonets today too. This isn't a game of Battleship." Conservatives are already starting to bitch about it.

Moderation in these debates has been piss-poor, overall. Today, Romney was allowed to monologue for obscene lengths of time and was not really pressed to answer questions posed about foreign policy.
