Even if Syria ends up with a crappy democracy it is still better than the authoritarian quasi-monarch dictatorship that was the Assad regime. Getting rid of the Assads was always the first step to a political free state. Even if it ends up being a long process.

dumb idiot line. democracy is not always better. most Iraqis preferred saddam to the new crypto-dictator Shia mentalist.

People just prefer Saddam because things were slightly better when he was snatching people away in the night for executions. In the long term Iraqis are better off without Saddam. The Iraq war was justifiable on human rights grounds. Things will get better eventually.

so much hardcore proof and argumentation in your claims, I'm just blown away. 'it'll get better, chick'. such a woozy political balm. tell that to all the sectarian dead.

on human rights ground of all things.

sheesh.

more iraqis died during the iraq war then under saddam and human right violations imploded. that much, we do know. you don't know what would have happened to iraq under saddam's rule. to speculate and claim otherwise is idiotic.

'slightly' better? living in a war zone is slightly better than living under the rule of a dictator where things are relatively peaceful, you have access to basic services, and you're less likely to be killed?

btw, how do you know what the people of syria want? the FSA is basically a loose collection of rebels, a third of whom are not even syrian. they're primary source of support come from qatar/saudi arabia; two nations that are renowned for their lavish history of democratic values.

i honestly thought you would support this because is hurts iran and reinforces US power in that region.

this coming from the guy who just posted in another thread about how stupid the whole 'freedom' thing is when taken beyond rhetoric or abstract idealism. mocking some dude's license plate case. but now he's so invested in freedom's innate virtues that he's telling an entire country it's better to live in danger of death or fear for an abstract noun you are only experiencing in the proximity of a Joke.

Macbeth drop out already you're embarrassing.
