Isn't there an unusually large number of hackers in F2P games? Look at Combat Arms for example. If not trying to hate here. Just wondering what the motivation is if it's just going to get hacked to death.
just because it's free to play you guess there's no anti-cheat? there is still a cash-flow in this game. developers still want to make a good game.

also have you even looked at the gameplay videos? what sort of hack would profit here? wallhack? aimbot? lol

Yes, I watched some of the vids, and that's fantastic. Good sign that there is some kind of anti-cheat program in this game. It's a good sign of quality. Though you know just as well as I do, that hackers run rampant in MOST of the previously released F2P style games. Lackadaisical development is usually to blame because most of the developers don't feel the need to put a lot into a game that doesn't yield much return.

i think you're missing the point: all hacks in this game would be useless, anyway. the game doesn't have hitscan combat. an aimbot or wallhack would give you zero advantage. it's all player skill.

do you disagree? a hacker would have to rewrite the game's code to be able to make anything that could give an unfair advantage.

if there is a working aimbot of course it would give an advantage even if it not nearly as effective in games without hitscan

sniper isn't really effective against anyone that is going 150km/h+. i have no idea how a game with slow moving projectiles is gonna benefit from an aimbot. as soon as you get into rank10+ and everyone knows how to ski and move around quick, an aimbot would make no effective difference at all. you need the player's intution to guess where they're going to be. you can't code that.

it is, technically, but when a light class is going 150-200+ shooting them becomes near impossible. i've never seen an aimbot that keeps a perfect-scanning aim, i.e. that updates enough to constantly hover the reticule over the player model. i just think it would be technically unfeasible in this game. not to mention all of the cover and hills to ski up and down. it's not like call of duty where you go stand in the middle of the map and hold down mouse+1 with your bot engaged.

here's a 'smart' aimbot, apparently the best.

as you can see, everyone is going slow, shitty noob server.

and i'm pretty sure this game has anti-cheat as well, which puts it in the same position as nearly every single other FPS game on the planet.

hahahaha is that serious? half of those people were moving still or in straight lines. i mean come on, surely they can do better than that.

You try turning while skiing, I mostly have to use the jetpack to try to change course and even that may not work sometimes.

i've seen enough footage of this game to know that you didn't need an aimbot to kill most of those players.

it's a video made by the aimbot producers. they're selling it. of course they want to make it look good.

most of those people being killed were bots, afaik. they move in straight lines and don't strafe.

this is what i mean about a hack being impossible to make for a game: the maths involved in predicting a human player's movement through the air means human intuition > a formula, every time. it's too complex. you can strafe, change direction, drop/gain altitude, boost yourself, etc. any number of things that will change velocities, vectors, any number of variables... (not to mention the connection and ping itself). when players move at the speeds they do, making an aimbot is practically impossible for a projectile-based gun. you'd have to recode the game itself to add homing-missile qualities to your projectiles

i mean, come on... yes, certain weapons are hitscan, but not in the same way as regular hitscan games are. think of bf/cod: all weapons - assuming the connection is fine - immediately hit their target (there is a distance dropoff in bf games but this can be factored into an aimbot quite easily, the numbers are out there on the web). players move slowly along an x/y axis. it's easy to plot and predict and, what's more, the distances involved are tiny and comparatively close-quarter. in games like tribes the maps are HUGE, giant expanses, with players moving along the x/y and z axes. even snipers with hitscan have to 'lead' their shots slightly on fast moving targets. it's just not a very feasible hack against anything other than bots/extremely bad slow players.

Who would buy an aimbot anyway? Chances are, it'll get fixed and become useless, get you banned or both.

you'd be surprised. there is a huge market for this thing. they cost as much as the normal games... which you then get cd-key banned from.

It still saps all possible fun out of things. Even when I was knee deep in hack-vs-hack matches during the height of Jedi Knight 1 and its ridiculously open-ended engine, any kind of autoaim made things mega boring.

I suppose the same kind of people who will drop hundreds of dollars of real money on Warcraft shit would go for it though.
