As I'm getting older, I've noticed I'm taking a liking to some of the guiltier pleasures in life... my question to you, from someone with no experience in the activity, is what cigars you would recommend?  I'm up for anything, except for the uber expensive.  Just some everyday or special occasion brands, to be enjoyed with a good bourbon.

inb4 cubans.  I know the reputation, but I'm interested in the more everyday brands you can find at a smoke shop.

If I were to smoke anything, it'd be a cigar.

I have 2 different types of Cohibo, they were about £10 and £15. Wasn't massively impressed with what other things I can buy to smoke for that price but perhaps it's something that most people enjoy in their later years, like whiskey.

i bought some partagas the other day, they are smaller than a typical cigar.  i like them, and they stood up well with a woodford, which is a pretty hefty bourbon.  i was thinking of starting with the shorter ones before dropping money on the big boys, just to get an idea of what i'll like.  i read some of the wiki article on cigars, and it looks like the wrapper has much to do with the overall flavor.

I always wanted to smoke the little cigarette cigars that Eastwood smoked in the Trilogy but they're rare as fuck.

I have only smoked Tatiana flavoured cigars, and mainly special occasions. They were at the local tobacconist. I don't smoke cigarettes and all so I went flavoured as the regular tobacco does nothing for me. Vanilla was yummy, but they have heaps of flavours.

lots of different shapes, sizes and flavours.

At least Churchill liked them, and I don't have that much money to blow on cigars xD I prefer smoking a hookah.

Friend went to Cuba and brought back a bunch of cigars apparently from a place said to make the best cigars in Cuba by some connoisseur or something and they were total arse. So if the best of the best in cigars are horrible I can only recommend you save your money.

I'll be honest, they taste like shit, even flavoured ones.  We used to own a tabocconists when I was a kid (made £80 off my mates when I was 12 by selling them some of the stock, hahaha shhhhhhh, dont grass on me).  But no they aint worth it, £10 to look like a dick, and smell like a bumhole

I like the taste of them. About a billion times better than smoking a cigarette

I dunno. Can you describe what salt tastes like?

I've just always enjoyed the smell of leaf tobacco, be it from a pipe or from a cigar.

Cigar smoke to me is the harshest nastiest smoke I have tasted (what a bizarre sentance), seems like Im smoking the remains of a Garden Fire when you try and get rid of all the leaves.

Cigars smell ok in fact, until you set fire to them

Nothing. It just means I can't explain to you why I find it pleasurable in words
