Put the 100 marines in tanks/bradleys & they could almost do it without firing a shot, just drive right through them.
i doubt it.  100000 is a lot of people.  minie balls werent spitballs and cannons were pretty powerful.  i bet a cannon ball could damge a tank pretty well and probably disable a bradley
Put the 100 Marines in AH1Zs, problem solved

That's something I never understood was the sheer amount of logistics that went into massive invasion in ancient times where they would have thousands upon thousands of men in one battle. They must have had several mobile farms just to get the guys their daily dose of protein. I can't imagine how much water they'd all consume.

Also why Russia's "scorched earth" policy worked so well against Napoleon...

Logistics is often the overlooked key to winning a campaign.  The German military made its best officers combat leaders, and the average and sub-par officers often wound up in places like logistics.  That wound up producing HIGHLY effective combat units that had more and more supply problems as they continued to advance though the USSR.  (Making enemies of most of the locals through brutal racial policies sure didn't help!)

Yes.  Man for man, the German military was arguably better, but the American production and logistics capabilities helped seal the deal in Western Europe, North Africa, Italy, and the Pacific.  For example, we landed in North Africa with ships from the east coast of the US.

I'd say the best example would be Hannibal's 15 year stint in Italy with the Romans burning crops and blocking off the sea (incidentally the first time ever that the scorched earth tactic was applied).

If it were up to the combat leaders in the German army they would've gone straight to Moscow rather than taking a detour for Ukranian grain (yay hitler). That would've been the end of it.  Even if they were to place their best in logistics it still would've been impossible to overcome the Russian winter.

Had Hitler captured Moscow or even Stalingrad it would have been a Pyrric victory.

You can't hold a city without securing any supplies before hand.

Correct. Napoleon took Moscow and his army starved.

on a side note:

the onset of winter in november 1941 made it possible for the german army to resume its offensive towards moscow (because the russian roads became accessible by vehicle again)

Napoleon lost most of his troops on the way to Moscow in the fall. His supplies lines were messed up from the start.

the german army had the highest losses in the summer (not winter) of 1941 (because of bitter fighting, not because of unsufficient supply). the same extent of losses was not attained until the winter of 42/43 (stalingrad)

btw, the turning point of the german-soviet war was either the 22nd of june 1941 or the soviet counterattack in front of moscow in december 1941

Let me put my armchair computer general hat on

They'd run out of ammo and fuel pretty quickly and 100,000 is an insane amount of people, assuming the ancient Brits don't all run away/surrender at the sight of seeing hovering death machines and actually tough it out. Which, according to Jord, they would never even think of doing.
