Quite scary
It would have altered history in ways we cannot imagine. Perhaps an even larger war could have occurred. Not to mention the UN would never have existed. That's just barely skimming the surface of events that wouldn't have transpired.

Fuck Israel
65 million people died thanks to Hitler and his allies. That is a very tragic event, but we do not know what might have happened if Hitler was killed in WW1 or in the middle of WW2. If he died during WW1 God only knows what might have happened. If he died early in WW2 the generals might have been able to fight better and cause more casualties.
What happened happened, and the technological and medical advancements were enormous, but they came at a massive cost.

We don't know if somebody worse than Hitler might have risen to power and led a war similar but a lot more competently. The German's had more rocket science than we did. What if the war was delayed while America was still just as unprepared, but the Nazis had more time to grow their army and advance their military technology.
Anything could have happened. What if Germany got nukes first around 1950 and started using them on the unprepared countries around it?
On the one hand, things could have been much worse and many more people would have died, on the other we would have 65 million more humans on earth but we wouldn't be as technologically and medically advanced.

Could somebody post a Picardfacepalm.jpg for me please?
What I want to know is if Godzilla were real would nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki have increased or uncreased his awesomeness.
Because either way Moses could have kicked his ass.

Odd twist to the thread.
Has nothing to do with the OT.
If you want to discuss alternative histories involving Hitler's death pre-WW2, then please start another thread.

No I think Iran would win and cause as much trouble as the Taliban are.

Of course the US would roll Iran. Bigger military with better tech. It'd take them longer than Iraq, but they'd do it.

What's Russia's relationship with China like lately?Shahter wrote:
oh, c'mon, man. drones and cruise missiles destroy all iranian aa capabilities and then the "war" becomes slaughter, like in iraq and other places. nobody can stand against usa in conventional war atm.
Used to be that China was the USSR's ally during the cold war.
Seems the relationship has changed a bit in the last 25 years.
Two out of a very small list of nations that nobody would seriously (sanely) ever consider invading with ground troops, China and Russia.

Was hoping our local Russian advisor might have more insight
According to my adopted Cold War era history book, the "Chinese War Machine", did you know that the Chinese had 15 army divisions stationed along the Russian border?rdx-fx wrote:

Jaekus, the world wouldn't be the way it is today without Hitler. Do you deny that? Can you agree with me that we have no idea what would have happened after his death? No WW2, no Korea, no Vietnam, etc. Other conflicts would have still occurred and we don't know if they would have been more or less bloody.
This thread is over. Iran would get steamrolled in conventional warfare. Asymmetrically the US would be screwed though.

We don't know if somebody better than Hitler would've risen to power, either.
But I'd bet on it.

Well, alliances don't necessarily mean either side completely trusts the other. Nixon "got on" well enough with China in spite of the cold war.Spearhead wrote:

This is what I don't think he gets... Chances of somebody worse than, what a lot of people consider the worst person ever, coming into power are what, like millions to one. And I only say millions and not billions to account for crazies like WBC and serial killers etc. I'm pretty sure anybody who hasn't seen to many "what if" movies and ate them up, would roll the dice on those chances.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

This is honestly the best line of posting I have seen from the guy.

I never said it was more probable that somebody worse would rise to power.
And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us.
You brought up one far-fetched alternative-historical chance without mentioning the likelihood of the preferable other.
