We have recently been looking into our options on new cars. We need something small, dependable and good on gas. Our "best" option is the Focus...hmmm.

Hatches do make sense with regard to what Ted mentioned. A lot of European roads are "twisty" and narrow. Fuel economy is also much more important when you're paying roughly 3 times as much for gas as we do.
