the st pic i posted is the first version, they have one that's pretty similar to the RS i just couldn't be bothered finding a pic.

Still, hatches don't handle the best. The next car I'm getting will probably be something like this.
astra is not a better car than a focus. and i'd happily say that a good hatch handles better than nearly most cars until you get into 3-series territory

Granted, I know Europeans seem to prefer a different kind of handling than we do. The suspension on a lot of hatches is what I'd call "rally style." It's tighter than what most people here prefer.
A lot of Americans prefer a very smooth ride, so (among other reasons) we favor larger vehicles that take turns smoother rather than tighter.
Getting used to my Astra was a little disorienting at first.
despise hatchbacks. don't understand the appeal at all. if you need that much trunk space buy an suv

for me it's not the trunk space so much as the design. i think they look cool.

then buy a sports car? I dungeddit. I see a lot of riced out hatchbacks driven by hispanics but that's about it.

Hatches do make sense with regard to what Ted mentioned. A lot of European roads are "twisty" and narrow. Fuel economy is also much more important when you're paying roughly 3 times as much for gas as we do.Jay wrote:
