It probably has more fans than the nfl

Yeah, I don't think is either. It's still all about money (which isn't a bad thing...it's just not all that "pure").

I know nothing about the NFL but from what I can see here the argument is he should be allowed the freedom to demonstrate his faith... so why can't people have the freedom to criticise him for that?

If Tebow was a voodoo guy like Pedro Cerrano, everybody would just think he's got a colorful personality.

He's a [US] football player.  Who gives a squishy fart what his views on religion are?

Like listening to actors spout political views.

Or bleach blonde Barbies spouting news on Fox.

Also didn't the bible say some stuff about not making a show of faith? One of the bible verses I like (aside from the things about killing witches and other fun stuff) is Romans 14:22- The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God.

What do you think?
Don't take it out of context.

Don't forget the verse that says to go out and preach the Gospel to all the people.

If you make fun of somebody for their faith you're an ass. Nobody has any respect these days.

The Bible also says to honor God in all things. Tebow is doing this by praying before games, giving thanks for a score, etc.
lol, you spout off about gays one day, and then speak of respect......right

But Tebow is not "preaching the gospel".    He is a devout Christian who takes sports so seriously to the point thatt he thinks God really cares whether he wins or loses.

When you pray, Shifty, do you believe that God has any influence on sports games?

He is a football player. He draws attention because he believes praying to God (PUBLICLY IN FRONT OF CAMERAS ON NATIONAL TELEVISION) will help him WIN GAMES.  What about the Christians on the opposite team who pray to God and believe in Jesus?  If they lose, does that mean he is more "Christian" than they are?  What if the other team wins?  Does that mean he has failed God?

Bottomline : Tebow is a showoff when it comes to his religious beliefs, and he thinks God will help him throw touchdowns.  That is why he is easy to make fun off.

/end thread

P.S.  were he just an average football player, his faith would not be taken nearly as seriously by the media

Tebow did it to himself.
He did nothing to himself. All the actions taken by others were the decisions of those people, not Tebow's.

What?

Where on earth do you get that? Where/when has Tebow ever said anything remotely like that? Or is it just your interpretation of his actions?
