Is this configuration possible? If so, are any of you using the XBOX 360 controller? I'm really good with the mouse/keyboard in every way, except in jets. I'd like to get a joystick, but they're expensive and always seemingly hit-miss depending on the game, so I was wondering what you guys thought about using an XBOX 360 controller. They can be had for a lot cheaper than a good joystick and they are supported in BF3...

Hopefully someone is using the exact config that I want to use and can report back.

I've been contemplating about getting this Joystick:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B001B9V … KAKR8XB7XF
€24.99 with free shipping in Austria.

It has the basics you would need for BF3:
Rudder control (by twisting the stick), throttle, 8-way coolie hat (for viewing) and enough buttons for all jet functions.
And it has force feedback vibration, which is quite good for that price.

It's cheaper than an X360 gamepad AFAIK, so you don't lose much.
That is, I already own two Logitech Rumblepads 2, so I would certainly not buy another gamepad anyway.

The main reason I haven't bought that stick yet is, that I don't play any other flight games, or games where a joystick would be better than mouse/keyboard or my gamepads.
And I would most likely end up being as bad in jets as before anyway.

Yup, I use that set up. Problem is, my movement joystick on the controller is loose, so it likes to move a tad to the left and it basically makes the game unplayable until you center it again lol. But it definitely works.

Definitely works, just make sure to Remove/Unbind the "Joystick" controls from the Infantry section so you cant accidentally bump something and stuff something up.

Especially with a Joystick with Throttle control, as leaving it at full throttle will make your gun fire full auto lol.. (right trigger on 360 controller)

It works. I use my PS3 controller, emulated as an X360 controller (infact I don't think you even need to do that, but I do) for flying. Just use the USB you use to charge it to plug it to the PC.
