The story is about a marine who kills one of his superiors and is brought in for questioning. We relive various points in his military career as well as those of a few other people. It turns out killing the superior was necessary in order to work with a Russian special forces operative and help each other find a few nukes scattered across the globe.

Never been really that interested in competitive gaming.

From my experience with BF3 however, it seems like they would have fix more bugs/issues before it's polished enough for those types of matches.

they think that demo recording and spectator mode is going to make BF3 an esport? rofl

this is such a cpt. obvious discussion, i really don't know why the guy took the time to write an essay on it

especially considering the conclusion is long foregone. tf2 was the last competition-capable fps game. they don't exist anymore.

cod4 was a watering down and shittification of an already-existing competitive scene. tf2 was fresh and completely new. that was what i was talking about. time-wise i'd say competitive tf2 was before call of duty 4... but i played tf2's beta. call of duty 4 didn't seem to take off for a while. a gap of some half-year between them afaik.

There would be plenty of support, at LANS all the big name team managers used to chat to us about how awesome bf2 was and how they wished it would have gone further so they could justify sending teams to compete

It's about time battlefield became viable for esports, its just a shame EA don't give a shit.

yeah the 'big name team managers' at LAN's are trying to get the ball rolling... no shit. it's a money-earner for them. LAN gaming = corporate gaming. bf3 will enjoy a 'competitive scene' if the big companies get behind it and decide to pool some money for free advertising + publicity. that'll be about the extent of it. the game by design isn't really on the level of, say, counter strike or team fortress classic when it comes to 'pure' competitive gaming. bf3's success will be a corporate bubble (if any).

I'm talking about 2 years ago, with bf2, which was anything but a money spinner for competitive managers.

The general consensus for bf3 at the last i-series was that as it stands it's a waste of money forming a team and flying them out to play for £1500 prizefunds.

completely disregarding the business side of things (which i find a little distasteful when discussing competitive gaming), bf3 doesn't offer enough for the gamer him/herself. it's poor when it comes to 'advanced' play, or whatever you want to call it. competitive bf3 would be total dirge to play, even if there was major money behind it. and if you're only playing (shitty) games for money... well then you may as well just get a real job, imo!
