yeah it definitely is a pain to guide. it's very sluggish, no more curving shots. it's hard as hell to hit infantry, and near impossible to hit a moving littlebird. and it is a downright joke that a hellfire missle only disables a tank.

i thought the helis were real shit when i first started flying them, but they're not too bad once you get the hang of it.
missiles do less damage, but you can still easily take out armor and infantry, even fuck up some buildings
too easy for infantry to lock on you though, hard to tell where its coming from sometimes
it should give you direction from which it was fired from, spotting on the map would be too easy
sometimes i can get outside view and see it, but a lot of the time I cant and it gets old when you have 3-4 mofos trying to take you down constantly

Haha so true! I never got used to TV missiles in BF2. I could TV missile just fine in BF2142 though and that's similar to the BF3 system.

Haven't been able to use BF3's tv missiles yet, but in theory it sounds like I won't like it.

I was a fan of BF2's missiles, being able to fire and forget in a way. Line up a shot, click once, then go back to the main gun. Or on moving targets being able to just click every so often to keep it on target.

I guess so many people rapid-fire clicked that DICE figured they might as well make it a continuous guidance kind of thing. Lame.

yeah it takes a good pilot to really learn how to gun. people just seem to forget the tactics that made them rape in bf2. most pilots think they can just fly right into shit and fuck everything up, but they forget now that infy has stingers, and javelins if the soflam or citv is up. it's still a range game of picking your targets and raping flags only when there are few threats. i gave up flying people around since most people dont shoot at the infy or tanks i spot, and i hate gunning since most pilots are garbage. if i'm not solo'ing or flying with a buddy, i don't bother anymore.

i'll hit you up next time i play. caspian and kharg are good heli maps. firestorm is a little too open for jets, and nosharh is too small. oman is so-so

i'm not the greatest though, i have a hard time against good jet pilots on the other team. if we get some good backup from our guys, we'll do alright.

Odd, I usually kill tanks with one TV missile, if I do my part. The trick is understanding the lag inherent in the controls (and camera before the patch).

you sure? i will hit a tank as it rolls out of the uncap, and all i ever get are vehicle disabled. i learned now to light the fucker up with guided rockets first, switch to gunner, and put a missle in his ass to end it.
