You gotta wonder how something like a mouse driver gets screwed up in 2022. How many years of USB mice has the PC industry enjoyed? Why isn't this stuff on lock. Like seriously, if there's a problem, it should default to a generic driver and just know that nobody wants to move 5000 pixels across their desktop in a single twitch. Is it really that complex?

Apparently so, some of these manufacturers' websites are stuck in the 1990s and MS isn't that far ahead. I really should not be surprised.

I don't think I've had serious PC issues since that one December, knock on wood.

i have no idea how windows fucked up drivers so much and so often. i remember getting bluescreens with device IRQL errors and so on. literally the entire machine dying halfway through a task or in a game because the system OS can't figure out how to handle dolby explosion noises and mouse activity at the same time. pure trash.

I mean, who knows if it's actually driver issues though. For some reason anyone has a problem with a computer they're like 'oh it must be drivers'.

Sounds like there's lots of things broken and not setup properly in your place Dilb

Why do you assume it's only computers?

Drivers are pretty early on the troubleshooting checklist. Assume away and do your double-checks.

My telco has been floundering around since forever, changing my plan without reference to me etc.

Now they've fucked something up and overcharged my credit card direct debit, to refund me it would be too easy to just take it off the next bill so they've sent me an actual paper cheque for $10.

Did we timewarp back to 1997?

I overpaid my credit card and they sent me a check for $7.

I am at a southeast Asian restaurant in NJ. I don't think I enjoy food from that area. Vietnamese and Thai food is perfectly legitimate food but just isn't for me. Weird vegetables.

I went to a Thai place for the first time in maybe a decade just yesterday and had a nice stir fry. Having not had a good basis in Asian food, it's definitely a self-fulfilling prophecy where I don't go to places because I'm unfamiliar with the cuisine and what I would like, which prevents me from learning more.

There's not much to say about it with the information provided. Knowing mac's veggie know-how, he probably just saw a broccolini and spooked.

I had her order for me. She got me a lemon grass chicken sandwich. That was an okay sandwich. She got some bowl of veggies, noodles, and chicken. It didn't look appetizing.

Not a big banh mi fan. Bread to insides ratio is off. Baguettes don't do it for me. Love the flavors though.

this one was absolutely stuffed, definitely more filling than baguette. the thing had layers, man.

there's a bottom layer of rolled egg, a sort of light noodle/beansprout mix, and shredded carrot down in there beneath the lettuce and grilled meat.

i actually miss decent bread here, even if it's just a functional baguette that isn't cloyingly sweet to cater to korean's palettes. vietnamese places and japanese bakeries are, oddly enough, some of the best places to just get hearty bread or wholemeal. korea's bakeries all take their tips from america; which is to say, literally the worst fucking bread on the planet. all rinsed in sugars and coming out sweet and dessert-like.

I thought people stopped photographing their food about 10 years ago.

you've clearly never been to korea. those aren't my photos.

every time anyone buys anything from any business in korea ... you'll see the automatic reflex to take a photo and document it. it's the most 'online' society on earth.

https://i.imgur.com/T9lEpGM.jpg

korea has a social media site/app called naver. think google+facebook+news+paypal+shopping+taxis+yahoo answers all in one. i can pull up any business using their 'maps' function and not only see the menu/prices, but also see 1000s of photos posted of their food and venue by korean patrons. another facet of the naver ecosystem is a 'blog' or facebook-style wall. it's very common for koreans to write small mini-blogs with pictures of any restaurant, café, museum, etc, they visit. they document their days out and socialise in this way. there's even reviews with photos for your average neighbourhood grocery store. the whole city has been mapped this way.

i just pulled those photos from naver.

i can pull up a hairdressers on naver, look at their prices, look at a list of their individual stylists, read their biographies and, again, see their reviews and photographs of their work, crowdsourced from other koreans. then i can use naver to book an appointment at that hairdressers. then i can use naver payments to book and pay for that appointment. there's even special discount offers for naver bookings. i actually save money doing it this way.

but yeah, '10 years ago'. it's the west who are dawdling in the past, m80. so whilst it seems silly that koreans are forever photographing their food and documenting their most banal café or shopping experience, they're actually hive-minding a vast repository of collective knowledge and consumer smarts. neat!

we get it, you’re one of those conservative clichés who gets mad at people just having a nice time and enjoying themselves.

do food photos annoy you? don’t you have anything better to worry about and rally against?

conservatives - snowflakes par excellence. the perma-triggered class.

also aren’t you a photographer? those photos in my first post are clearly plated differently with different baguettes. c’mon old boy! details! clearly i didn’t take them.

I think the people upset about other people taking pictures of their food or dorky selfies are just upset that they have nobody to like and comment on their pictures. I posted that picture of the dim sum onto Facebook and got a bunch of likes. Posting pictures of yourself going places and doing things is a great way to signal to people that you are interesting, and fun to be around.

The people complaining about other people only bragging or posting their "wins" on facebook are dopes who need to get some wins of their own to talk about. Stop being jealous and bitter.

the only time i've ever taken food photos is on some occasion, or to show it to someone else for an express reason. i took a bunch of food photos when my friend visited, because, well ... we had been speaking about getting kbbq and having all the essential korean dining experiences for months in the run-up. then i could show family back home, "look, we're finally doing this". the photo had a purpose.

i never take photos of an average meal or drinks because i know i'll never post them anywhere or look at them ever again. if girls get some satisfaction out of posting that stuff all over their instagrams, then they can go nuts for all i care. i'm still going to enjoy my meal.

@mac lol, most of the recommends at the end of the departed video were for "buy or rent" youtube movies. I've never bought or rented anything on youtube. The platform can't even buffer a 10 minute video sometimes.

re: food photos, I think some of that animus comes from the trend of picking on "entitled, self-absorbed" millennials and zoomers (alpha's already catching the same flak). Elements in media love trotting out these lines to sell to ravenous, older readers who will then be exposed to appropriate advertising. I couldn't care less what a news source with zero photojournalism ethics when it comes to matters of great import has to say about people documenting their lunch.

What's funny is that people will laugh at the "dumb," "vain," instagram influencers and then hop onto google reviews to slander an entire company because one of their trucks passed you on the highway, go into great length about their families' life stories on facebook, or complain at length on yelp that their chicken sandwich came with mayonnaise after they asked them to hold the mayonnaise. Some people really need to take the "let people enjoy things" challenge and stfu.
