governments need to impose carbon taxes, actually bring the major oil companies to heel, and lead massive state-led initiatives to fund a 'green revolution' in energy supply and conservation – even if it's not immediately profitable or delivers a return-on-investment. only governments, with the power of law and with the ability to raise taxes, can do that. 'consumer behaviour' and market-led bullshit won't turn the corporations around. "if everyone stops buying petrol and plastic, we'll fix the world!"

In my hometown there was a house called "the 70's house". It was abandoned in the 70's and was instead used as a place to party since it was in a really isolated place. The owners left a giant cabinet of vinyl records behind. Being the stupid teens we were, my friends smashed them. Only now as an adult do I understand that that those records could have been worth big money and nobody would notice they were even gone.
I bet everyone walks barefoot to their local record store, they never get them mail-order.

vinyl records don't have massive international supply chains. that's not how record labels, like publishing houses, organize their distribution. there are normally pressing plants nearby. vinyl is heavy and fragile and frankly a bit of a nightmare to mail.
i go to my local record store(s). most of the music i buy is actually form local record companies in the city. as in, my friends run some. that's part of the whole interest of following contemporary music, dance music especially. it's hyper-localised, and in fact you can't even get certain sought-after records or sounds if you're not in the city or country its from.
it's not the 1970s with your dad ordering 3 MOR albums from the RCA subscription pool each month. people don't consume physical music in that way anymore.
