seeing those glossy textbooks reminds me of all the times jay tried to imply that i worked for an 'extortion ring' and 'joke industry' because jay thought that academic publishing == school textbooks. lmao. god i miss that guy. it was nice having a guy around to remind you what the non-college-lettered plebs think of the world.

Work is doing a mail-in checkup this year cause of covid. Dropped my tests and blood in the mail last Wednesday. Just got to the sorting center last night.

I guess. Doing the test gives you $400 off a year in insurance. Would be annoyed of it got lost.

Didn't know that was something ppl actually make at home lol. I've had eggs benedict and eggs florentine a lot but never looked into making it, seems like too much effort. Then again I can't really cook anything other than scrambled eggs and eat out 2 to 3 times a day

Are you cooking the sauce straight in the pan? I always use a bowl on top of the pan- easier to regulate the heat that way

Dairy-based sauces can be fickle beasts. Ive curdled or broken my fair share.

making your own sauce is always cheaper and superior. plus you can make a huge batch and freeze it or do whatever else with half the left-overs/spare ingredients.

any tomato sauce-based recipes are the worst offenders of all. why anyone would pay 4x the price for a jar full of sugar, preservatives and stabilizers when you can just purchase a can of chopped or plum tomatoes for 20% of the price, is beyond me. there's literally nothing else in most ragu or bolognese-type sauces.

The desk I bought came from China with a little card offering a $10 Amazon gift card in exchange for a good review. They needed my address and email though. So I gave them a burner email but they still got my address.

First World Problem: The Chinese are going to send their COVID bioweapon with my gift card.

My sister left treats on our back porch for the cat that sometimes visits. She went back there this morning to see if the cat took the treats and instead found a giant raccoon eating them.

Well I live in a city. I don't even know where a raccoon would live in my area.

Got stung by wasps, dropped the bricks I was carrying, dented the concrete a bit but its probably coming up anyway, bricks are fine.
I knocked down the wasps nest, seem to be paper wasps but much larger than usual. Maybe they're Chinese infiltration wasps.
Now the nest is on the ground being eaten by ants, the wasps are clustered where the nest was looking sad.
I feel sorry for the wasps as individuals but not as a group.
Now I have to hose them away so they don't rebuild their illegal settllement or apply for asylum, a tragedy for the individual but survival of the fittest is the natural law of the world.
The wasps should be philosophical and accept in the long run they as a species will be fitter and stronger and less likely to sting people, or replaced by the next step in wasp evolution, or replaced by some completely difference species, and not take it against me personally.
