androo lives in the armpit of socal. No chance anything he said above is true.
i would never spend more than 40% of my income on rent and taxes/immediate paycheque deductions. 33% and under is the sweet spot. how much is he making if his rent is $4600 a month?
ive lived in central london properties that were less than that.

Pornography is just another service. I get more use out of it then I do with any of the "Triple A" games that money is wasted on.uziq wrote:
imagine paying for porn. what a degenerate.
median home prices are 750k in all of LA according to zillow and that seems about right from what i've seen. obviously places like beverly hills are different incorporated cities, it;s prolly 5million average there. but even ghetto and high crime gang infested areas like south central have to be 500k a year.pirana6 wrote:
Sounds like you're living WAY above your means. $4600 a month for a mortgage? For an "average" home?
I live in Seattle, which isn't the most expensive place in the country but it's up there. I make less than $100k but not out of site from it and was gifted far less than $1k, $300 in fact. I'm pretty sure it was a sliding scale to some degree
and where i grew up (and still spend most days commuting to and living due to my mom) aka the "armpit of socal" according to ken, is 640k a year. and that's 45 minutes from LA but realistically almost 2 hours with traffic a lot of days.
uzique i don't have anything against socialism dude, i never said i was against "hand outs". the stimulus check is not a handout anyways, literally millions of ppl lost their jobs or saw reduced business etc in the past month and they need help. i wasn't talking about rent tho. of course u can rent a decent 1 bedroom apartment in LA for like 2kish but even that i think is ridiculous. the housing market is fucked out here. i wouldn't be surprised if the average person spends in the range of 50% of their income on rent
gang shit
That sucks so so bad.RTHKI wrote:
PC crashed while loading a simracing map. Don't know why, power flicker maybe, but now the files are corrupted. Tried my other sim game and the vr headset is flickering in it and Steam home. In an hour of time spent I only drove for 10 minutes.
What does a 1/2 decent racing setup cost, anyways? Like a wheel with feedback and maybe a rack to mount it on. I've been considering getting into it, but I check out these streamers' rigs and they all appear to be multiple thousands of dollars. Is there a sweet spot for price/performance?

A friend of mine has two kids and was put on total lockdown about a year ago.
His wife literally only lets him out of the house to go to work.
He's bigly into sim racing.

Really you only need a wheel and large tv or monitor to hookup.Pochsy wrote:

My initial setup was a G27 attached to my desk for 200 and my 27in monitor. No idea what a good starter wheel is nowadays or the cost.
Added a custom pvc pipe setup with seat for 100.
Then went from monitor to WMR headset for 300.
Then upgraded G27 to CSL Elite which was 700-800
that sounds slick, rick. post a picture.
I do not believe in cable management. We got the dac usb, aux to speakers, headphones, vr, wheel power, wheel sub items, wheel to pc, mic
Also I broke the corner pipe that holds up the gear shifter so it's not attached atm. Made the thing 8 years ago or so kinda want to replace it but why waste the time and money. I love having others take some laps when visiting, even if they don't care about racing everyone has enjoyed trying vr racing..or gotten motion sick
Edit: the issue was caused by nvidia drivers, mostly anyway. Updated and flickering has gone away besides in the menu/pause screen

very cool. labour of love!
That's really neat. I'll look into basic starter wheels as a first step. Think I'm a little ways off from building my own gear rack...

i've not used VR yet. first time experience must be cool.
That's pretty cool but how much VRAM do you have?
An Nvidia 970 4gb*
Yea VR was wild the first time. The wow factor wore off but it's still a lot of fun. Other games I have are Gorn and Hotdogs horseshoes and hand grenades. Reminds me of the Wii days I have smacked screens, windows, ceiling fans, and beers.
*actually 3.5. I'm really tempted to buy a card with the stimulus but the prices are insane and with VR it sounds like Nvidia is the much better option. Hoping I can wait till the 3000 series drops.

Regarding VR: A very few people have complained that Half-Life: Alyx is exhausting to play due to how much real life movement is required for it. I can see that being a thing. Personally I have a very deep fear that I will be one of those people who get head and eye aches from playing VR so it will never be a thing I can enjoy.
Well I think your setup is super cool. I am going to buy a Time Crisis machine someday.
