Effort
My dad and I are visiting family in Buffalo, NY and he rented a bigass Dodge Ram. It would've been only $3 extra a day for me to drive it too since New York has tighter laws on rental companies screwing people but since I'm under 25, it would actually be $30 or more extra a day with the underage charge so it didn't happen
I feel robbed, they tell you you can do anything at 21 and it turns out that's everything except rent a car at normal rates. They also don't let you rent luxury cars, larger SUVs, minivans or any kind of specialty vehicles either

You're lucky. At the places I've seen, it's usually like $75+ extra for the "young driver" surcharge shit.
Here in Australia if you're under 25 your insurance is higher. They are just covering their bases.
Use the bus. Using public transportation is the best way to learn about the local people when being a tourist
Yeah, it's the same in the U.S. if you're male. Plus I live in one of the more expensive markets for insurance already in the country. I think I'm paying like $180 a month for full coverage on my Black 2011 Ford Crown Victoria LX as a 22 year old male. My mom pays for part of it so I'm only actually paying $140. I don't know if 180 a month is good or not for that car but it sounds higher than a lot of other people pay for these particular carsAdams_BJ wrote:

180 holy fuck
That's cheap for full coverage. When I was your age I was paying $170/mo just for liability._j5689_ wrote:

seriously jesus
Yeah on my old 2002 Crown Victoria LX I was paying 120 just for liability. Meanwhile my one year younger sister got liability for like 70 a month(could've had comp for only $5 more) on her 2004 Pontiac Sunfire coupe. She's already been in two or three accidents though so her rates now are almost as bad if not worse than mine. My dad said if I'd had that many already I'd probably be uninsurable.

I have an audi a4 and pay $300 every six months.
I also have never been in an accident nor have I even had a speeding ticket. I'm also over 25.

and hookers always tell you the bets tricks
I was being sarcastic. I wouldn't wish public transportation on anyone.
I use public transportation daily. Go back to the burbs with your silver spoon, k princess?
I live in a city. A car is still a better way to get around than the bus or lightrail
You must live in a city where parking exists, and traffic doesn't.
SF and London have the best public transit i've experienced. Portland is a close 3rd.
Good ol' BART
