unless you're a college student you need a good desktop pc anyways, except for the video card. a good video card is 200-300 which is equivalent to an xbox. you also get cheaper games with the pc and better gaming experience except for sports games and maybe platformers but no one plays the latter.

Most human beings don't need anything higher than the cheapest dell. The amount of workstation pc's I have seen still running Windows xp confirm this.
