that makes more sense. i still say get a real job, though. brick and mortar gambling is still a pretty shady way to 'make a living', and still contributes absolutely nothing. the difference being i guess that a lot of mob and corporate money is in places like lv and atlantic city, money and influence that pulls political power.
Most people who go to LV ar AC are people looking to have a good time, not make money. Most people go for the scenery, parties, clubs and drinking. The gambling itself they don't care whether they lose money as long as they're having a good time.

You can't blame anyone for not taking a job that actually contributes to society. In our country we are expected to make money -> display wealth. i.e. the root of Jay's inferiority complex. A job that allows you to actually contribute something to the world doesn't fit in with our consumerist society. For better or for worse.

The mob in the U.S. has been pushed out of the Casinos. It's all corporate now. The mafia in the U.S. is a shell of it's former self. Hell, the Chicago Mafia, "Capone's crew", has to fight for territory with street gangs. It ain't how it used to be. Thank Allah.

nah i don't care. it's their choice if they wanna spend their 20's sat inside working internet games for 8 hours a day. when the poker bubble pops or when that shit is finally banned, those people will have massive black-holes on their resumes for their entire early-career. an employer is gonna ask "what were you doing during those years? no college education, no work experience, no skills developed here on paper" and the guy is gonna respond "i played internet games all day, paid no taxes, and learned absolutely nothing". okay. your choice, mr legal uk poker pro. unless you can make it into the top 1% that actually makes mega bucks, like mortgage and life-savings amounts, then you're fucked.

yes but people like ig aren't sat on the internet all day grinding because they want to have a good time and take in the scenery, are they? i'm talking about gambling as a living.

'taking the piss out of Pochsy'? Please, nobody takes your criticism seriously. And I know Canadian lit blows. Save yourself the trouble of typing these things out.

And 1/2 the posts in this threads are worthless personal stories too.

I don't give a fuck about your pizza, Uzique. Did I take the piss out of you with that one?

mentioning what pizza i have isn't some intellectual dick-wagging activity though, is it, whereas you announcing you've just cracked some super arcane academic theory about shitty poetry is more of a "hah! i r doing smartz stuff". the whole point of me mentioning my pizza was to reintroduce some banal conversation.

LV is already struggling as it is. That state has the highest unemployment rate right in the Union right now. 13%. 4 points higher than the national average.
yeah but isn't that because a buttload of mobile labour and workers basically go to las vegas expecting there to always be construction work and shit? surely you have to look at stats to do with population figures and the ingoing/outgoing movers.
It's because of the service industry. Once the 08 mess blew up people stopped making the trips out there because they didn't have the money. So the Casinos pulled back and trimmed their services departments in response so a lot of low skilled-no skill people ended up losing their job. The people in the area who always relied on the Casinos don't have any other choices.

LV seems like a shitty and unsustainable city to me, anyway. from an energy and practical point of view. what a sink. who would wanna move out to the arseend of the desert to make a living? i do love all the literature about las vegas though. some hilarious stuff has been written about it. normally by snooty french philosophers.

Right now I'm reading Winston Churchill's Birth of Britain. I'm not crazy about it but I'm going to finish it anyway.

No, it's just what I'm wasting my time doing at the moment (and Canadian poetry is a waste of time), and I recognize how irrelevant it is. No pride in it.

I guess if I wanted to wag my dick I would try and take the piss out of people on the internet.

Just made my Polish grandmother cry Cooked up some kielbasa with sauerkraut and apples, and made pierogies from scratch. Delish!

I don't have an inferiority complex, and I don't believe in conspicuous displays of wealth, so... try again? If I had an inferiority complex wouldn't I be out there in the streets with the OWS people demanding higher taxes on the rich? Good job trying to psychoanalyze me though. Did you learn this stuff when they put you on the suicide floor at the hospital?

No one gives a fuck about your grandma, either. At least I can acknowledge the self-deprecating nature of my posts. You just end up looking like a fool.
