They fucked up the facebook newsfeed so badly, you don't see the absolute recent status updates. You just see random top stories and some recent stuff mixed in. I don't go on facebook as much because of it.

mother of god, i posted a pic on facebook of that occupy wallstreet pic with all the brands pointed out on the protesters and some annoying wannabe liberal girl went on a rampage lol.
this is seriously so stupid. missing the point much? god damn.
do you want to know why everybody uses corporate products? because we don't really have much of a choice to begin with. when corporations are the only producers of just about everything you can think of (because that's how the fucking free market works) every small business or any other producer of said product goes out of business because the corporations buy their way into taking over the entire consumer base. it is simply impossible to not use products produced by corporations. and that's one of the biggest problems: the corporations become mass entities over the country and you have no choice but to submit because you can't live day to day life without these services which are designed to fuck you over in the end so that they can get more and more money. i sure as hell wish that there was an alternative to insurance given to me by a corporation but i don't really have a choice because health care isn't fucking free and if any other disaster happened i'd be completely fucked. and when i sign up for insurance i already know that, in the end, one way or another they're going to squeeze me dry. i know that anything i buy that is mass produced is designed to break so that i can buy more.
try going for a day without using or utilizing anything ever produced by a corporation. you can't. they've taken over the entire country. they control us much more than the government does, because well, the government is generally on their side (because they have to be, they're more powerful than the people who are supposed to be in control of the country)
and besides, this movement is meant to spread knowledge of it. everyone was advised to bring their camera or anything else to record on. they're trying to document this entire thing and make it spread internationally. they're trying to be heard.
a lot of these people may have had money at one point, or might still even have a little. the 99% consists of people from below the poverty level to people in the upper middle class, and even further. even if they had no money, fucking sue them for having one nice thing. seriously. it's like when people are on welfare and they get attacked for getting a goddamn soda or ice cream once in a blue moon. either way, they likely obtained any of these expensive items before their life collapsed before them and they found themselves with a foreclosure notice and dozens of thousands of dollars in debt, at least. it hit a lot of people suddenly like a train. i know a lot of people who are homeless but still have a few things from before, like a camera or computer.
also, the entire movement isn't just about corporations and bringing them down. it's about capitalism in general and how it's fucked over our entire country and everybody is either living in fear or has already wound up out on the street. everyone's future is a "what if?" and nobody knows how they will get their life in order. whether they went to college or not (they probably have a massive amount of loan debt and probably can't find a job anyway) or had to drop out (no money in the first place) or have or had a job, we're all in the same uncertain situation. because we are ALL dictated by capitalism and it affects everything in our life. socially, medically, security, mental well being, physically and everything you do and think and say and buy is affected by capitalism. your entire like and way of thinking, and society's standards as a whole, are a result of capitalism.
this pissed me off a lot.

I went through the occupy portland camp when I was there. It's a very organized group coordinating the whole protest, but the vibe I got was the majority of the people were just young kids with no idea what they were doing there except that it was a protest against 'the man'.
She has some good points tbh.andros wrote:
