I want to purchase a wireless PCI adapter for use on my desktop. I want to branch off from having to deal with a wired connection. Now all the reviews I read on these are a little sketchy. So I don't know what to think. I was thinking one of these few but I wanted to get the input of the Bf2s'ers.

What do you guys think? Can you find a better one for under $30?

I use a ASUS wireless adapter in my HTPC and I've always found it very reliable and fast (as fast as you can expect in Aussie land). Definitely worth a look.

E: It cost me <$30 if I remember correctly.

I actually bought the Rosewill RNX-N300X exactly two months ago today (Your second link). Haven't had any issues with it yet. I have it installed on an XP machine so don't know how it works with Vista/7. Speeds are good, although it is about a room away from the router (not downstairs or through many walls). Plus you get a free antenna so you can choose between the included antennas you put on the back of the card or you can use the antenna you get for free and put it on your desk or something. Overall very pleased with the product.

You will need to use a PCI-E x1 (or larger) slot.

So X1 will work in a X16 slot correct?

if your access point does not support standard n then don't bother with wi-fi. it may be okay for a printer which you only occasionally use, but if you plan to copy large files computer to computer standard g is simply too slow.

just a thought.

Yes, with PCI-E if you can fit it in the slot it will work (if you modify a 1x slot you can run a 16x GPU even though it will be gimped)
