I thought this was the more interesting part
I should here admit that I have been arrested for criminal damage for my part in anti-capitalist protest earlier in this decade. I often attended protests and then, in my early 20s, and on drugs, I enjoyed it when the protests lost direction and became chaotic, hostile even. I was intrigued by the anarchist "Black bloc", hooded and masked, as, in retrospect, was their agenda, but was more viscerally affected by the football "casuals" who'd turn up because the veneer of the protest's idealistic objective gave them the perfect opportunity to wreck stuff and have a row with the Old Bill.
Its not as if this is new.

Politicians and bankers are just different aspects of the same venality, scum are scum, whether they weasel themselves into a plum job or not.
There's a general selfishness and lack of society at all levels of Britain now, not just the hoodies and middle class yobs on the streets.

If you call £9,000 a year free university then I guess so.

Another enlightened contribution there.

Unfortunately it was your repetitive posting I was attracted to particularly as it seemed to be the main evidence of your argument. I freely admit I was not present when my "fellow socialists" were posting shite.

To a point. Tuition fees have been on the up for a number of years. Once the recession hit the government saw it as an easy way to save billions.

In a nutshell you are charged 9k per annum but you also get a government load (that attracts interest etc) that you can take out to cover all of your fees while you are at uni. Projected debt from a 3 year course is now in excess of £50k which becomes payable as soon as you start earning and is taken straight from your salary. As with everything else in this country buy now, pay for the rest of your life

Then it is just as it is over here. You can spread out the loan over almost your entire working life, more than easy enough to pay it back that way.

You dont get to choose how quickly you pay it back it works as a tax code. Still point is that £50k debt =/= free.

Im sure it is fair, personally I got a company to sponsor mine so I dont have any debt. This was a completely left field choice from the sixth form I went to (the top ranking state funded college )

Only for minimum payments. You can always overpay and get rid of it faster...

no it should only go to those with enough ambition to want it, have enough motivation to and determination to pursue it and is willing to work for it.

I know I know, some pretty strange words mixed in there. Some those assholes never heard of.

Oh is this where you spout off about what is fair and what isn't fair?

So what if mommy and daddy pays for their kids education. Are you actually trying to argue that those same parents should pay for a total strangers education as well?

Ya see, when you work and build wealth you can afford to pay for your kids education. Pretty much one of the reason people work, to provide for THEIR family, not yours.

ya don't see the difference between working for an achievement and have one handed to you? Why is it the govts. job, and not yours to educate your sorry ass? Especially when apparently the govt. can longer afford to do so.

Working for an achievement?

The affordability to go to university shouldn't come down to an achievement like it is a privilege. Education should be a right to those who are smart enough to get there.

Ah so it's only about ambition, motivation and determination if you're poor. If you're parents are rich then you can go anyway.

Try not to contradict yourself too much lowing.

No it comes down to earning it and working for it, just like everything else in life. It cost money, if YOU want to go, then YOU can pay for it. There is plenty of assistance out there to help you.

Oh and by the way, an achievement is earned, it is not a privilege.

Didn't say that. I said life isn't always fair. Some might have to work harder than others to attain their goals. Tough shit.

I am also saying it is none of your business what mommy and daddy do with their money. It is after all, THEIR money and not yours.

Heavens for fuckin bid if loving parents want to help their kids out. Stop being such a hater with your wealth envy. Maybe they should have their EARNED income removed from them to be equally distributed to the rest of you? Is that what you are advocating? No wait!! don't answer that!!

I'm not saying parents shouldn't help their kids out. I never said that.

I was simply pointing out the contradiction between you saying that people should require ambition, motivation and determination to go to university, and then you said that parents paying for their kids university is fine.

Do you honestly think that someone who has their parents pay for university has any more ambition, motivation and determination than someone who takes a loan from the government to do university?

Nope, some people simply require more of it if they want to make it. As I said life isn't fair. Tough shit. There is no contraction. There are 100's of avenues one can take to achieve their goals. Some are harder roads to travel than others. That is life. Just because you have a tougher road than someone else is no reason to burn down their business, or loot their stores. All that was accomplished was on top of being fuckin losers, they are also criminals. Congrats.
