Meanwhile we lose our sterling credit rating. The idiots in power are gonna run this country into the ground.

I guess this one is a test carrier for a future fleet of them? They'll be able to afford a few supercarriers in about 10-15 years time.

I wonder what the odds are of Chinese imperialism during our lifetimes.

Very likely I think. China is becoming more and more dominant and is showing that to its direct neighbours through excersises at sea, or say, intimidation of Taiwan. China still thinks that Taiwan = China.

The problem is also that, like the Japanese, they would go all ethnic cleansing lebensraum on their neighbors.

China doesn't need an Aircraft carrier to invade Taiwan, they're close enough anyway. Carriers are usually for overseas force projection. If they park it next to Taiwan and invade that's the first thing Taiwan would hit anyway.

Besides that carrier is tiny compared to the nimitz afaik.

Military spending it up all across south east and south asia because of nervousness about China. The U.S. is even doing military exercises with the Vietnamese now.

Well I guess it's time to build more submarines.

And the Germans and the Russians and the Japanese and the Americans (slightly) and the French.

They'd just enter into a Security Dilemma. China has no real military allies.

The history books refer to the period as "the good ole days".

You don't need to hold territory in order to be an empire. It's not the 17th century anymore.

I know but I'm just adding more shit to your quote.

I still don't get why China believes that Taiwan is part of China, shiiiet the commies never stepped foot on the island. The only thing Chinese about Taiwan is that a shit ton of nationalists fled in '49 and that's about it. Funny that the KMT (nationalists) party who fought against China during the civil war now is pretty pro-china.
