'Hello? Is that Syria? Spare us some dudes?'
nice throw
i thought cctv was suppose to prevent these sort of things from happening?
These punks know they are being criminals. They know what they are doing is wrong.
I hope they get teargassed and locked up.

london mayor: "we're going to have more police"
yeah, i'm sure that will stop them. every voter thinks more police will lessen the crime rate so that mayor does some stupid show to make people think they're "safer."

18,000 seems like such a low number.
I guess it just feels low in a situation like this. The NYPD has 34,500 officers, but if the entire city rioted all at once, they would each need to arrest like 260 people.

in a situation like this they certainly help. unless you think the mayor should just go around and give a thousand pound check to each protestor as a sign of good will in order to appease them.13/f/taiwan wrote:

i hate it when people think more police is always the answer. as if its a fixed solution to crime. if that were the case new york would barely have crime.
Good idea! Trap them under 1000 pound checks! /AmericanHurricane2k9 wrote:

Make X-meds a full member, for the sake of 15 year old anal gangbang porn watchers everywhere!
It's not going to mean shit if they're already barely doing anything other than making a physical wall that just moves backwards. More cops in a group = less room to move backwards at leastHurricane2k9 wrote:

Case in point about concealed carry permits13/f/taiwan wrote:

no, i wasn't making a case point for concealed carry permits. please don't turn this into a "oh well this is what happens when you don't have guns" thread.
Tbh.
I still find this all very surreal, never imagined this could or would ever happen in London. Apparently the youths have a lot more targets set up for tonight including Watford and Hemel.
I know fucking karate
It's not a solution to crime in general, no, but it is a solution to civil unrest. If a bunch of people are burning and breaking shit, they're enemy combatants.13/f/taiwan wrote:

@J56 well then they ought to do something more. Like I said earlier, around here they literally send in the cavalry when a bunch of university students start cheering in the streets over a basketball victory. Surely they ought to be bringing in the heavy artillery (not literally lololololo) in London considering they're ACTUALLY destroying property and ACTUALLY endangering lives.
It seems that they're calling in thousands of police and special officers to prevent more violence this evening. Those girls in that clip and this looting is just disgusting. Sheer opportunism because they want to get things for free without getting caught.
What the hell sort of riot shields do they have, too? I've seen many sort of hoplon-style shields but then I saw some footage of police with wobbly, rectangular ones that don't look like they would stop a tennis ball. Their presence on the streets didn't seem very strong though.

I wonder how Mek is faring among all of this chaos? Poor Mek, his delicate stature stands no chance against these hoodies.
mek was gone long before the riots. rip

"Riots to cause insurers tens of millions"
It's amazing also that the incident that led to all these riots has completely been lost in the news now. If the riots had never happened it would have been huge news, as far as I can tell there is still no official report about the shooting the Duggan bloke, apparently he shot at an officer, hit the officers radio, then the officer fired back and killed him.

one incident doesn't lead to a riot. it may be the straw that broke the camel's back but it's definitely not the primary reason.
answers the question of "why?" some people may have.Hurricane2k9 wrote:
