why? No gay person or straight person has the right to marry the same sex. A gay person and straight person both have the right to marry the opposite sex.

We all have the same rights under the law. Period. except when it comes to insurance. There, gays have more rights than we do.
Straights have right to marry who they want to. Gay's don't.. er didn't.
Not true. There might be 2 straight guys that want to get married for financial convenience of some sort. They are not allowed to do so. We are not allowed to marry who ever we want. We are ONLY allowed to marry a person of the opposite sex.

Why would you care? Really? What does marriage between a same sex couple have anything to do with you, or how does it hinder your life?
Because I'd have to deal with the annoying Gay pride bullshit. So what if they were repressed and discriminated, the past is the past. Get the fuck over it.

We should learn from past mistakes, not dwell on it.

I'm just tired of all the 'gay pride' shit thrown in my face.  Do I drive around with some sort of 'heterosexual pride' bumper sticker on my car?  Do they even exist?
Probably because they've been oppressed for hundreds of years. I'm quite sure that had homosexuals always had the same rights as everyone else then the whole gay pride thing would never have taken off. That doesn't mean it's just going to disappear overnight though.
What right does a straight person have that a gay person does not?
Shit I don't know, not being able to marry in the 44 other states seems to be a big one? It's only very recently that they've started to bring in laws to prevent discrimination against homosexuals.

Oh yeah? Prove that they are getting married for financial convenience. Straight people do that all the time. Half the people in my barracks were married simply because it meant they would get an extra $600 a month in BAH.

lol, comparing being flamed on a forum to violence and discrimination
fucking lol

War Man, I live in DC which is a very gay-friendly city. I have never, ever had to "deal with the annoying gay pride bullshit." There's a small pride parade once a year I think, and guess what? I don't HAVE to go and watch it. There aren't men walking around in pink thongs, even in the 'gay neighborhood.' DC legalized gay marriage and guess what happened? Nothing. It was more of an "okay, finally, now let's focus on lowering crime and improving the schools" moment.

I would prefer a union similar to marriage for the homos. Marriage should remain for straight couples.

Hm? I believe most research currently suggests that sexual orientation is biological, not a choice. But either way, if it's allowed to be discriminated against because it's a "choice" then religion should also be unprotected from discrimination.

I'm sure you understand he means gay people did not have the right to marry their partners, ie. a monogamous relationship between two consenting adults that involves an emotional, physical and mental connection.
