'plenty of books and lore'? halo was a shitty console game with some hastily tacked-on merchandise.
never ceases to amaze me when star wars and halo nerds get upset about their 'intellectual property'. guys, it's not a norse saga. shit was made to shift units in gamestops. stop talking about the halo 'canon'. it's a fucking puddle deep analogue joystick shooter. stop chewing rocks.
The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
it’s a video game. it was made for frat boys to shoot each other. any lore was backfilled in after the fact to shore up sales and generate more income streams.
being pissed about a hall tv show is literally like getting upset about the latest star wars plastic toys. it’s merchandise, not art. snobbery doesn’t come into it. the creators of halo’s IP have ‘telling a good story’ at about 6th on their list.

The original game was to my recollection released ahead of schedule to sell Xboxes, and it showed. It really tells you a lot about the franchise's origins, and there have been a lot of subsequent complaints about rushed products and even rereleases (along with the usual fanboy defenses of course).
If they were making a Larry Niven's Ringworld show with respect towards the series and its author, then I might be more interested. It's mostly as zeek said: a Halo tv show is going to pretty much be merchandise, who cares.

First person scifi shooter game by Bungie a few years before Halo. Read the story and see the similarities with Halo.
Of course all scifi and fantasy draws from the same pool of blah. This is why we unironically NeEd NeW vOiCeS in those spaces. Does Master Chief have preferred pronouns?

Two games at more or less the same time featuring the moon Deimos, huh.
Reading as I type this, and there it is. Comparisons with Doom. Funny that it doesn't talk about Mac magazines triumphantly boasting Marathon over Quake '96, I wonder why. Anyway that's just how the articles and ads were back then, shit-talk. Anyone remember the stuff for Daikatana? Marathon looks like a very good game for the time. Haven't played, my Mac gaming days were behind me at that point.
Mods have since proven that free-look is possible in Doom (e: Doom 2 pushed the limits of what was reasonable to put in a game without free look; some outright leap of faith stuff there), but of course it looks funky the higher or lower you can look. Maybe with some more sprites showing proper angle it could have been done, but you'd need triple the amount for every enemy and Doom took enough resources as it was.

MC is a literal player-insert meat puppet. So ill-suited for a screenplay that alterations needed to be made.
Imagine a Far Cry tv show. By the end of season 1, the main character will be covered in bandages and splints.

There is an Obi Wan show going on I think? Who the hell is actually watching these things? There must be diminishing returns in all of these Star Wars shows.
I watched Ted Lasso because everyone raved about it and I'm easily influenced. It was ok.
I'm pretty much done with Netflix as well. They create compelling shows but the delay between seasons makes me not enjoy them. By the time a new season comes out I have to rewatch the previous season to remember what's going on.

Says the zombie enjoyer. Not that I'm planning on subscribing to Disney+ anytime soon.SuperJail Warden wrote:

IMO Disney could've put some polish on a lot of the expanded lore and really done a fan service for the nerds. But no.
e: I watched the Vader vs. Obi fight referred to me. Was cool, I guess, but doesn't really make much sense if their reunion was supposed to have happened when they were old men. Follows the new Star Wars model of inserting Vader into everything, even if it doesn't make sense. Not something I'm particularly interested in dwelling on. Star Wars is a comic book.

The bits and pieces I have seen of the Boys are really cool. It is hard to commit to watching a show though. I don't have 20 hours to roast in front of a television.
It is called doing research and analysis
The porn subreddit is me protecting sex workers and at risk communities.
They have a Jon Snow series in development.
It seems like every nerd shit universe is going to get driven into the ground with disappointing sequels. I don't know how people have to energy to care about these never ending sequels.

The whole thing is morbidly fascinating. Years ago, if I criticized GoT I'd hear no end of it (from you, most likely). Now, hating on the series and spinoffs is expected.
GoT was great until the last two seasons. The next GoT series is going to be woke.
It was passable at best until around I'd say season 3, when it noticeably began to fall off. Anyone who thinks it was good until the last two seasons was and probably still is in denial.
It had it's ups and downs. Season 6 was actually pretty good and the ending finale was the show's apex.
The finale sounded like a game show of arbitrary eliminations. The zombies should have won and then in a twist nobody would expect, turn Westeros into a republic.
I have no plans to watch the last season. I don't really feel like I'm missing out.

I haven't the time to binge this show but the parts I see on Youtube crack me up. Soldier Boy is like The Comedian meets Captain America

Invincible is probably more violent if you need to choose between the two, but The Boys has more runtime.
I am not into The Boys just because of the violence. I like the satire of the super hero genre.
