All these supposed political and tactical supergeniuses making the dumbest, uncharacteristic mistakes and walking into the most obvious traps. "Uh oh! Time for a shock value scene!" I watched most of it with my dad. Was starting to piss him off towards the later seasons, and he's a fan of some of the hardest to watch cheese you could imagine.

Not a TV series, but I recommend Conan the Destroyer instead.

Where to even start. Let's just point at one facet: Frey violates lordly convention by massacring his guests. Then, even if it was part of a Lannister plot to spare the crown the embarrassment of dealing with Robb directly, "mastermind" Tywin doesn't respond by betraying the Freys, destroying their house, and gaining not only a foothold there, but brownie points with the church.

But hey, at least it shocks the readers/viewers!

Your complaint is stupid.

Why would Tywin complicate his ongoing civil war in order to murder someone who defected to him? Secondly, Tywin does gain more control of the Riverlands by appointing Little Finger as Lord Paramount of the Riverlands. And finally the Catholic Church of Westeros is clearly insignificant until after the death of Tywin. They only became relevant after Cersei empowered them.

Do you have anymore stupid complaints that I can clear up for you?

You should watch season 8 of Game of Thrones. You might like it because it made as much political sense as you just did.

Why is that dumb? Killing the Freys could have bolstered the Lannister (and the king's) reputation as upholders of tradition and rid them of a proven untrustworthy vassal. Tywin could have given the castle and its lands to another ally. "We were shocked!"

Also, holy crap you are defensive about Game of Thrones. I'm sorry your dragon show sucked.

"Dumbest decisions made by GoT characters" seems to be a sizable category in discussion about that show. Alongside speculation about what people were thinking when it was being made.

I would suffer through Cats 2019 before trying to endure season 8.

The castle the Frey's owned was notoriously impossible to capture. Robb Stark only made the initial deal with Frey because he would not have been able to march his army south without Frey's permission. And as I mentioned, Frey became Little Finger's vassal afterward anyway.

And did you know the Red Wedding wasn't just the Frey's plot? Tywin convinced other members of Robb's army to defect and kill him. Did you want Frey to declare war on those defectors too?

And Tywin didn't care about tradition. He only cared about power. Murdering people who defected to you isn't a power move while you are still fighting a civil war. I am sorry that the character didn't have the personality you wanted him to.

And I am very sorry you don't understand the things you watch on T.V.

Almost all of those dumb decisions were from the T.V. producers and not the source material. I don't care for Martin as a writer but the story actually make sense in terms of actions to consequences up until season 7.

"Impossible to capture" in a show where where "subvert expectations just because" and impregnable city-fortresses fail just because. Massively contrived.

My point is that the show was average storytelling for maybe the first three seasons, then took a sharp downturn. It has characters who are supposed to be smart, written I guess by people who don't know how to write smart characters. Endure 40 minutes of people talking up four dimensional chess in a garden, then one of them dies a season later because they can't read the writing on the wall. It's like a bad fanfic.

"Do you have anymore stupid complaints that I can clear up for you," get outta here.

Of course it was a Lannister plot. Probably not a very big mystery to the other lords, either. Puppet kills enemy, puppeteer throws puppet under the bus. There are optics Tywin could have abused, and histories rewritten. It might have happened eventually had Tywin not been shot on the pot. Wouldn't even have to kill off the whole household. Could just off Frey and his sons. Marry off one his daughters to a lord whose loyalties could be counted on more. "Gracious." I don't think the other lords would particularly miss Frey enough to protest too loudly. It's not any more half-assed simplified to one paragraph than the show turned out with its many other examples of stupidity.

But no, it's because "I don't understand the things I watch on TV." pff. OK, Professor Westeros. Do you teach your students the Targaryen lineage too? So useful.

Anyway back to Westworld. I have not watched the latest two episodes. I have given up on the show as I said. I decided to check the ratings and I am happy to know there are millions who agree with me.

telling a story from 10 different viewpoints is good until the story itself gets lost in all the directions it's going.

I couldn't watch more than the first few episodes of season 2.

Let's talk about Tiger King instead

it's got some of the most bizarre, real-life characters in a reality show in a while. There's murder-for-hire intrigue.  a cold murder case. Gay polygamists. Cult-ish standard polygamists. A drug kingpin. And lots of animals.

It's what reality producers have been promising the masses since reality TV became a genre in the '90s. It's like watching a real life car crash from 6 different angles with 6 different interpretations.

I knew the show was doomed when the blonde lady gave the rich white guy a #MeToo lecture in the first scene in the mansion. The way he died in his pool made it so much worse.
