why do yo have to register? cant they just sent your voting card in that letter.

Two reasons I'm guessing. One would be because they want to make sure people vote in elections they are actually allowed to.

Also people can lose their voting rights for felonies.

but they can see who can vote in a database i guess, and decide who to send a letter

here i get a letter with my voting card, witch has my name on it. I go the the polling station, they check the name on the card with my ID, and BAM i can go inside the voting booth.

I think we had a failure to communicate.

Here we register to vote whenever and it has all of our information. Every election cycle you get a letter telling you when the election is, where to vote (for the district you are in), who is running, and a message from everyone on the ballot. You go to where you have to vote, you go in, tell them your name, sign in, and vote. That's it. No need to show any ID or show the letter.

ok here the check who can vote are done beforehand, that is the difference. I still think you should be able to show an ID, otherwise im sure there will be allot of fraud.

on the id issue, do you need to have an ID with you in case the police wants to fine you?

you do realize all citizens are supposed to be able to identify themselves anyway...right? It does not take much to get a govt. ID. A drivers license is only one form of ID, it is not the ONLY form of ID. I mean how does a welfare recipient get welfare with NO identification?

and yet 100s of thousands of illegitimate votes are cast anyway.... There is nothing wrong with last second before you pull the lever proving you are who you say you are.

really? So voter fraud is imaginary then?

Illegitimate voters don't show up to polls to vote. People also don't go to the polls to vote 10 times. The system does a good job os stopping that. Voter fraud occurs in other ways. Not with people showing up at the polls.
